Yikes...can anyone say 3-4?

AP MAS SAG POM
v. Iowa 4 3 3 2
@ Mich. St. 8 9 2 4
v. Neb. N 93 78 93
v. Purdue 18 17 11 15
@ Ill. N 116 112 93
@ Iowa 4 3 3 2
v. Maryland 2 4 10 9

This is why I see this as a 2-team race. Maryland's schedule on the other hand...

at home vs. Wisc, Mich, Ill
on the road vs. Minn, Purdue, and Indiana

If they win out at home and split the Purdue and Indiana games, Iowa has to win 2 of 3 on the road vs. Indiana, Michigan, and OSU and not slip up anywhere else.

It is indeed a shame that we have to compare schedules rather than who is REALLY the best team in the BT. So much for our 14 team league and the inability to play everyone home and away. Well, we got what we asked for, I guess. Lots of money and big TV contracts. Now who we end up playing determines, to a large extent, the winners of the conference title, both in BB and FB. Sucks. Then we have a tournament for BB and a BT football "championship" game to determine who is really the champ. Or, wait... Anyone else see the deterioration of what really determines conference champions?

I kinda have a hunch that Wisconsin finishes with a higher rpi than Indiana.

Nearly every American major sports league is flawed in the way it determines their champion

The NCAA Tournament is as good as it gets IMO. Sixty-eight teams have a shot to win the championship. Teams can complain about their draw, where they have to play, etc. But at the end of the day it's a matter of being better than the 6 (or 7) teams you face and you are the National Champion.

Looks like the Hawks will be pulling for the Hoosiers when they face Maryland at the end of the regular season.

It could determine an outright regular season championship or a tied championship with Maryland if they beat Indiana in the last game.

Eh, the one and done aspect makes it pretty crapshooty though. It's definitely a hard tournament to win though.

Granted upsets can happen but if you're a 1 or 2 seed you're not playing anybody good until the Sweet 16 and 1 & 2 seeds make up 58% of the Elite 8 appearances. Number 1 seeds win the tournament 60% of the time. The George Mason & Butler Cinderella stories are pretty neat but they are still rare.
