One of the ugliest Iowa losses in the last 20 years. So many stupid coaching decisions, it is hard to remember them all.
The dumbest of the game? The decision to give Purdue the wind with the ball in the 3rd quarter. Iowa is up 9-7 going into the 3rd. Neither team had scored going into the wind. Iowa has a great chance to score a couple times with the wind and put all the pressure on Purdue. Ferentz has done this a number of times over the years. It is a stupid move and a big gamble. Not only did Purdue score a couple times to put the pressure on Iowa, but because they had the wind at the end of the 3rd quarter, they had moved the ball to mid field. They had to kick from mid-field into the wind to start the 4th but were able to pin Iowa deep in their own territory because of that field position. Iowa starts the 4th in a big hole because of his asinine decision to give Purdue the wind in the 3rd.

4 minutes plus left and on 4th down, Iowa lets Purdue burn 35 seconds off the clock instead of using a time out. Iowa needed to stop the clock there and conserve time. I guess Ferentz had forgotten that when you possess the ball, you have the ability to stop the clock without time-outs. Instead, coach brainless uses that time out with 50 seconds left with Purdue having the ball and the game over.

Going for two instead of kicking the extra point to get within 8 WAS a bad decision. Argue all you want about it, but 99.9% of coaches would have kicked the extra point in that situation.

Iowa's vaunted running play to the short side of the field? My God, how many times can they run it? on one possession, they ran it 3 plays in a row. Does Iowa really only have two running plays in their play book?

Is there a way Iowa could just put 4 tight ends on the field instead of pretending they have wide receivers?

And finally, Nebraska is absolutely, fricking horrible. Is it really possible for us to go in there and lose? Yes it is and it is really sad.
