Impressed w/Big Ten Network right now.

Just flipped on TV for the first time today. Gerry DiNardo (whom I really like as a commentator) was really animated about the BS going on at Penn St. Paterno needs to go. Others on the network were critical as well. Got to hand it to them.

I was wondering when they would actually start covering this story. It took them a long time. I'm sure they were conflicted about it.

I have a hunch Paterno is toast. The Board of Trustees is meeting right now and will have an announcement in a few minutes. I think the leader of the Penn State cult has coached his last game at Penn State.

He really needs to go, and now.

Yes! It is like a cult. Reinforced by the display outside his house last night.

The morning guys on 670 "The Score" out of Chicago mentioned that NFL guys have always been frustrated because it has always been difficult get access to potential pros, that the staff and campus has always been insular. Difficult to even schedule meetings. DiNardo confirmed this with the Score guys. A little bizarre apparently. Is this just Paterno? or something else?

Part of that iirc is that the Bears got burned on a PSU player some years ago because they couldn't get all the info they wanted on him. Had they gotten it, they wouldn't have drafted him, as the player was a high pick and a complete bust.

I was impressed with the show on BTN as well. Reading the comments Delaney made almost makes you wonder if the conference is not tempted to kick Penn St.

The BTN has to go all "rah rah" for the conference. As long as JoePa was left in charge of the ship at PSU nobody on the network was going to say anything. Now that the university did the right thing, JoePa is no longer in the circle. He's open game.

Marty Tirrell was ripping the BTN today for hardly a mention of the news the last few days. The btn did the same thing with the sweater vest fiasco, at least this time they finally broke down and commented on it.

I don't know why anyone would be p*ssed about the BTN not really covering it. Did HawkeyeSports.com talk about the DJK/ARob stuff last December? No.

The BTN is more of a PR branch than a news source. It's always been that way, and they've never really pretended otherwise.
