In October of 2009, I decided to leave Scout.com and the subscription based model to relaunch a brand new and totally free version of Hawkeyenation.com. I believe the free model is going to be successful and begin to dominant the marketplace. So I chose to make the move proactively as opposed to reactively and watching the train roll by. So this site and all of the costs that go along with it come straight out of my pocket.

Since the relaunch back in October of 2009, we have been on a traffic pace near that of what the former site generated, which is astonishing considering the former site had been at the same location for more than six years. March of 2010 was the most visited March I have ever experienced in the 10 years I have been doing this, and on Saturday when the calendar flips to May, April of 2010 will have been the busiest April HawkeyeNation.com will have ever experienced.

We have a live well full of ideas and new concepts to roll out late summer, and can't wait to share those with you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your taking the time to stop by the site each day.

I have recently hired a Sales Manager for hawkeyenation.com and his name is Lane Smith. He is an avid Hawkeye fan and I have worked with him for a few years when our paths crossed in radio. We have actively begun our sales efforts here on the site.

I'd like for you to help me welcome some of our sponsors. You have seen the banners for The Iowa Clinic, Third Base and Joseph's Jewelers, and we certainly appreciate their support. Our newest supporter is Des Moines Imports. You will see their banner in the upper left hand corner of each page as well as on the right side of the front page and left side of the message board page every few page visits. They have stepped up to be an anchor sponsor for this site, and we are very appreciative of that. They are located just north of the I-80/35 corner on the northwest side of the loop, in Grimes. Just a stone's throw off the interstate on Hwy 141.

The best way that you can support this free site is by taking the time to visit our sponsors if you are in the market for their services. It means a lot to me and my family, as well as Lane's, and will help me to fund this website and keep it free for you for the years to come.

Thanks for reading this, and thank you for making Hawkeyenation.com a part of your daily online Iowa Hawkeye experience.
