IMO, TCU versus Auburn would have been a better game

You can debate whether TCU deserved to play in a National Championship with their relatively weak schedule, but I think they would have given Auburn a more interesting game than Oregon did. I say that in the sense that after the first half I never really thought Oregon had a serious chance to win.

Also, for as much attention that SEC gets for its speed, it wasn't speed that won that game, it was a size advantage for Auburn. For all its fancy gimmickry, Oregon couldn't get a few yards when it counted.

Did you watch the game? Auburn kicked a FG with no time left to win the game. But TCU would have given them a better game? Huh? Let's not pretend that Oregon didn't play well last night. They held Auburn to only 22 points. That is impressive. They just had to many turnovers and inability to score from 3 yards out was the difference maker

How can the game be better than it was?? Maybe if it had gone to overtime... But that was a really good game to watch. Defensive game, not a lot of offense, but a good game. I can't see how any other match-up could have made for a better game.

I don't think it would be a better game, but I think TCU would have beat Auburn. I think a senior QB like Dalton would play much better than Darron Thomas did last night.

I did watch the game. Oregon put on a great effort in the 4th quarter (forced fumble, 4th down conversion, leaping two point conversion reception) just to tie the game. Even with that they only scored 8 points in the second half. If Cam Newton doesn't fumble, the Ducks probably don't score at all in the second half.

I'm not saying it like Oregon is bad. I just think TCU may have matched up better with Auburn. I would certainly look forward to a game between those two teams if there was a +1 Format.

Thought this was an interesting tweet from Jay Paterno:

Not sure TCU isn't the best team in the Nation---someday the system must allow a team like that a shot at all the marbles.

TCU won an extremely close game over a "terrible" B10 team, but they would have won the NTG?

Ridiculous. TCU shouldn't even be ranked ahead of Oregon in the final poll. The game couldn't have been any better. The team speed of Auburn and Oregon would have killed TCU. Aub and Ore would have both won by 2 touchdowns.

TCU barely got by Wisconsin. Auburn would beat Wisconsin by 21 points or more and I think Wisconsin matches up better with Auburn than TCU.

Auburn's speed and power would overwhelm TCU's finesse read option. TCU would not move the football on Auburn.

WTF are you smoking, how much better of a game could TCU really have given them...wow

Of course he thinks TCU is the best team in the country. They beat a Big 10 team that was dominant in conference play. TCU is really good.

I just don't know how you can say it would have been a better game when last nights game was decided with no time left on the clock

Maybe they would have. But TCU team speed less than those two teams? Have you seen TCU play? Speed is not something they lacked this year.

I agree, Oregon's offense was a ton better than TCU and they couldn't run at all on Auburn. Dalton would have ended up on his butt a lot. Oregon passed for 350 yards but one play was 90. TCU good, not NT contender.

I could see Auburn stopping TCU as an argument against TCU winning, but Auburn beating Wisconsin by 21 or more points? I doubt it.

Yes, but not SEC team speed. Wisconsin beat them soundly in the stat columns just made some bad mistakes and I don't think Wisky was a NT contender either.

Can't he just think TCU is good because they are good? Why does everyone always bring conference affiliation into it.

I admit I am wrong that the game could have been objectively better, as that was a good game last night. I think what I meant was I think it would have been better in the sense that I was voting for Auburn to lose, and it was pretty clear to me from the beginning of the second half that they were not going to.

Auburn's rushing defense was 10th in the nation, Oregon averaged over 300 rushing yards this year and they were running for their lives. I'm sorry but I think Auburn would stifle Wisconsin's rushing attack.

Auburn would score in the mid to high 30's on Wisconsin and the Badger's would be lucky to score 2 TD's. There's your 21 points.

Well than maybe Auburn versus the Green Bay Packers would have been a better game if you wanted Auburn to lose

Lol, is your supposition that the Green Bay Packers the only team in the land that can beat Auburn?

Alright I can see that my idea has garnered almost no support here. I'll put my arguments to rest and concede to the wisdom of the board.
