I'm gonna have to disagree with the smartest person on Hawkeynation

Boy Beathard looks great this year, lol. Did you see those gaudy numbers he put up today against one of the worst defenses in the B1G. He couldn't find an open receiver with a GPS device....no vision. Yes, receivers were open....

BEAT-Hard is getting punched on the field by opponents and off of it by some of the fans.

Remember Tate; Stanzi; Vandenberg all regressed as seniors. And now some are claiming the same thing about CJB. That's the type of coincidence I don't buy.

Well he certainly didn't play like an early round draft pick today, that's for sure.
Purely 'game manager' today, nothing more.
I saw opportunities for NFL throws today,
He didn't make them.

I love the kid, but let's relax on the NFL potential CJ.

He will not be an early round pick. After today he will likely be around 10th in the B1G in passing yards completions and attempts. 150 yards and a touch each week doesn't cut it against the crap teams we've played. The NFL is not the place for a QB that can't sense the pressure and takes sacks rather than throwing it away. He's not exactly a team leader either. I thought last year he had a tremendous upside but he's not the same player this year.

You do have to start questioning how any QB under KF gets progressively worse the longer he's here, and a guy like Jake Ruddock has a breakout year under Jim Harbaugh...

Tate got hurt his Sr year and that injury lingered all year.
Stanzi?
59% 14 TDs/9INTs as Soph
56% 17 TDs/15INTs as a Jr
64% 25 TDs/6 INTs as a Sr.
Vandenberg ok, but he wasn't very good to begin with.

And somebody said JR had a "breakout" year for Michigan last year.
62% 16 TDs/ 5INTs as a Jr at Iowa
64% 20 TDs/ 9 INTs (5 lost fumbles) as a Sr at Michigan and 6 of those TDs came in OT win against Indiana

Ya know, now that I've read your post . . . It's almost as if Rudock; Tate; Stanzi; Vandenberg; CJB aren't the real problem.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Very well done sir. Narrative doesn't aways fit actual data.

Something about CJ seems off, or flat. He seems to lack energy somehow, suddenness, I wonder if he's sick or something. He is throwing bad balls and just seems off. Body language everything

You can't quote Stanzi's stats and then turn around and say "Vandenberg wasn't very good" when his JR year stats mirrored Stanzi Sr. Year.

This isn't to you personally...but stats are for losers. The fact of the matter is that Tate, Stanzi and Vandenberg were all 3 All-B1G caliber QBs who, by their senior years, refused to take any risks due to the one common denominator in all 3 of them...KF.

CJB's blind side awareness could be better, but I am not going to throw him under the bus. Blitz pick up right now is awful. Receivers can't get open. CJB/O-line can't recognize where the blitz is coming from or they simply can't stop it. Iowa has 2 guards playing right and left tackle. Wadley is a stud, but blocking in terms of pass protection isn't one of his strong suits.

CJ has taken some big hits over the first four games. Especially the last two. Big hits = sore body that can = less than normal play. Those two head to head shots he took yesterday didn't help. I don't think he was totally with it after the first one for the better part of the game and the second one was even worse when he got up apparently dazed. In my opinion he should have been removed from the game and checked.

KF should have been screaming about those two non calls instead of complaining about rule interpretation on that block call on the TD run after the game. I agree it was a questionable call but not near as bad as the second head to head missed call. I'm no expert by any stretch but IMO CJ is not at 100 %, far from it.
