Still IL to lose. Virtual two game lead on MN, IA, and WI.The dog shit big ten west sponsored by pooper scooper is wide open after Illinois loses at home to shitty Michigan St
I could totally see Illinois losing 2 of 3....if not all 3 to end the regular season.
That said, I just don't know if we can win all three of our remaining games as well. I think Nebraska is a win......but I think the Wisconsin and Minny games will be a battle in both.
Look, I'm not gonna cheer for Iowa to lose or anything, but I just can't handle watching Iowa play another game against Michigan or Ohio so I really really hope that Illinois takes care of business and gets to be the sacrificial lamb for the title game. I can already hear the announcers now "Well, with the score 42-0 at the half, the voters are gonna have a lot to think about in terms of whether to put Ohio State or Georgia at number 1."
I was thinking the same thing about Illinois. They were primed for Iowa because they hadn't beaten us in such a long time, border rivalry, etc. Michigan State had a lot of baggage coming into this game and Illinois thought they would win easily. There's really no such thing in the B1G.It’s nice to see 17 / 24 points Iowa back , I hope it lasts, it it will, I think Illinois took Sparty for granted, it’s hard to stay up every week for any team and Illinois is just learning how to be comfortable winning
I don't think Iowa beats Ohio St (I think we do have a chance against Michigan though), but I do think the score will be closer against OSU....especially if Iowa's offense keeps improving.Look, I'm not gonna cheer for Iowa to lose or anything, but I just can't handle watching Iowa play another game against Michigan or Ohio so I really really hope that Illinois takes care of business and gets to be the sacrificial lamb for the title game. Their other loss is to IU. Perspective. They beat W at their most vulnerable point. It’s nice to see 17 / 24 points Iowa back , I hope it lasts, it it will, I think Illinois took Sparty for granted, it’s hard to stay up every week for any team and Illinois is just learning how to be comfortable
They haven't lost their affinity for "timely" injuries either.
That would be a hell of a lot of fun!If Illinois looses to Purdue this weekend, things get real spicy. Illinois would be tied with Purdue for the lead, the winner of Wisconsin-Iowa would also be tied, and if Minnesota beat Northwestern, they would also be tied.
Good for you!Iowa can only play the cards dealt, I posted earlier that Iowa's defense alone could win the rest of Iowa's schedule with Purdue being the lynchpin to the rest of the season. I still believe that will happen. Wisconsin being the hardest team left on the schedule, but we have them at home. If Iowa plays a rematch game in the Big Championship eyes will roll. That's not our fault and F the rest of the West if that happens. I will not be optimistic of the outcome but it won't hurt the recruiting. It's going to be fun to see the pressure on the other programs if this happens. Iowa has nowhere to go but up. Kirk's teams get stronger through the season and healthier. I've turned my attention to BB but it's still Iowa football and I'm going to watch.
I will cheer for Iowa to win out and if 8-4 is good enough to win the West because Illinois chokes, so be it. I will takeit as a bonus game even if it a very likely loss. I also suspect the rematch would be more competitive. Iowa was pretty damn bad the first half of this season and if it wins out that would mean the offense maintained a pulse and the D continued to whoop ass.
