Ryan from Champaign, writes: Adam,As a lifelong Illini fan, I am compelled to wonder...if the Illini want to win their division, they will (most likely) have to beat Ohio St., Penn St., and Wisconsin, in the same year. I was just wondering the last time a Big 10 team accomplished that feat. Has it ever happened?

Adam Rittenberg: Ryan, not trying to embarrass you, my friend, but your Illini were the last team to accomplish this, in 2007. Illinois beat Penn State and Wisconsin in back-to-back weeks in Champaign, and then stunned No. 1 Ohio State in Columbus that November. So there's a blueprint for Ron Zook's team this fall.

I don't see how this "lifelong fan" couldn't remember this. It was only three seasons ago and not like there were a bunch of great Illini seasons surrounding it. Credit Illinois for getting it done that season though.

Ah yes, Illinois. Another team that Jake C. dominated that Stanzi couldn't beat. See also, Northwestern.

Iowa did it too, back in 2004. Michigan did it in 2000.
Penn State wasn't in the Big 10 in 83, but had they been, it probably would have happened then, too, when Illinois went 9-0 through a Big 10 round-robin season.

I wouldn't call a score of 10-6 needing a last minute INT from the defense while throwing 1 TD a dominating performance. Stanzi also only had 1 shot against Illinois and 2 1/3 shots at Northwestern.
