Deep in the second round and Illinois has 4 players drafted. The big boys have zip. When was the last time that happened?
 
Illinois has always had talent, the old Zooker just didnt know what to do with it except take it out to disney world and ride the tea cups.
 
Zook is so good at getting players into the NFL. Who cares if he doesnt win ball games. In fact I think that Illanooz lost to Minnesota last year.

This makes me cringe a little you don't think Illinois fans are not saying the same thing about Iowa?

Thats the joke.

Since an Orange bowl win for kirkster and a Rose bowl appearance by the Zookster they have been very similar.

Yet Iowa fans are very quick to point out how awful Zook is.

Ohh and for you that like to talk da money........Zookster was getting paid much less.

But the big question is.... who would you rather have as a coach, based on what they have to work with from signing day to graduation/time to go to the NFL?

Well for one I dont like the NFL. I hope kids leaving Iowa do well but I really dont give a ****. I watch a handfull of nfl games each year.

I would rather have Kirk as a coach.......but my point is that so many on here that protect Kirk to no end and say he should be able to stay as long as he wants, then in the next breathe say how worthless Zook is. In the last 4 years there is not a big difference in productivity.

last two? sure, but come on 11-2 and 9-4 is a long way off from 5-7 and 3-9. That's just laughable.

2010- 7-6 Huge loss to minny.
2009- 3-9 Loss to Missouri, Cincy(5)
2008- 5-7 Beat Iowa
2007- 9-3

I understand Kirk is a better coach, but for some of you to think he is a god and Zook is horrible is a joke. There is not a big difference.
 
OoTH is making a pretty solid point. Bince I am not a guzzler of Kurt KoolAid, I am able to follow the logic path and support OoTH's argument with relative ease.

I can follow the logic too, but is it really a solid point if no one would take Zook as their coach?

Yes because there are many fans(like myself) that think Kirk is a good coach, but do not think he is great or deserves to decide when he gets to hang it up. I think hes on his way back up but needs to stay there more than a year or two.

The Zook in the last couple of years is very similar to Kirk. However many Hawk fans think he is horrible. Now Zook doesnt have as much history as Kirk so that is in Kirks favor.

Ive been saying for awhile that if he doesnt right the ship that he needs to be shown the door. I think Kirk has started to right the ship and now think he gets two to three more years to get what he has set in place going. I still think under 8 wins is not acceptable.

Kirk and Zook have had big seasons. Theyve had season where they were supposed to be very good and things fell apart. They have both had many hohum average seasons. Bad season equal bad recruiting and that leads to these three year cycles.

Now Kirk does not have Norm which I still think could be the difference as defense has led to Kirk staying somewhat stable and his big seasons.

On the other hand if Davis works out and Parker can get the defense back to what it was.....then lookout because in the next ten years the Hawks could be saying 8-9 wins is the low.
 
Zook has won 9 games once in his career. This is at two schools with inherent recruiting advantages over Iowa.

I'd suggest involving a little more logic and a little less emotion in your thoughts.

Welp the records from the last couple years dont swing the scales, now you show me how Zook ahd recruiting advantages.
