I'll say it now before the game

What Iowa is missing is:

1) greater talent at the QB position.
2) More speed at all skill positions
3) depth on the OLine.

what I mean, what Iowa needs if they want to stay in the 10 win tier of college football. Ultimately this Iowa's talent is an 8-9 win team. The O is 6 or 7 win team.

Its not Brian. Its talent.

Yes
Edit: But heck, that's a Big Ten problem. When the last time a Big Ten QB not named Drew Brees did anything of note in the NFL?
2) More speed at all skill positions
It would help, but Iowa has improved here in recent years. The average speed I mean. Iowa has had some great talent at skills positions. It's just hit and miss, and very little in the way of wide receivers.
3) depth on the OLine.
We actually need better starters. Iowa for whatever reason has had 1-2 great players on the line and a bunch of rabble most every year the past ten years. The average needs to rise.

Yes
It is Brian when he gets to the red zone and goes run, run, pass. Three drives same pattern, it’s insane.

Yes

I can think of one Big QB who has had a rather successful career in the Pros

And attracted a rather fine looking wife in the meantime

Nobody else comes to mind

Remains to be seen what Brian would do with 4/5 Star talent

Thought Ken O'Keefe was going to help with the O

If we could attract top talent

Things would be different

Top talent goes to Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan in the Big

Notre Dame gets the rest of the MidWest talent

Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Georgia and Auburn in the South

Might as well toss the Sunshine State teams in the mix: Florida, Florida State, and Miami

Pac 12 snares the best in the West

Might never change

The Hawks do extraordinarily well with the talent we are able to develop
into NFL quality players

All things considered, we are doing well

The Ohio State, Michigans and Penn States have 4/5 Star players sitting on the bench

We almost never have them on the field

What is amazing is watching Alabama. Metchie goes down and they have a dude who is maybe as good as the best WR we've had at Iowa in two decades backing him up. Backup tailback gets dinged on the drive where the starter is resting and the third string comes in and looks like junior year Shonn Greene. It's just un-fucking-real. I really just want to see a Rose Bowl win, but it is gonna take a helluva contorted path to happen.

Pittsburgh with a great QB. Why can't Iowa get QB's like that. There are lots of other examples of Iowa "level" schools with nice players. If Purdue can get a Bell and Indiana can have a big receiver why can't we. Wisky and the running backs. Then can have like 3 all better than what we have?

QB's and runnings backs out there a plenty. Smaller schools with quick juking backs that could run rings around Goodson. Goodson is solid but no quick feet, seems slow to read things, and that long run against Nebraska where he slowed and looked back at the guy with the angle on him instead of running hard and getting the 5 extra yards had me done with him as being a real good back.

Plenty of real nice talent to go around. I see it elsewhere and those schools are not getting the 4/5 star guys the blue bloods are either. We don't need that kind of talent but we need that next rung down talent I am seeing elsewhere that is still better than ours at the skill positions outside of TE.
