If you're planning on attending the Nebraska game, why?

On my lunch break right now, and this thought crossed my mind..

I haven't had second thoughts about making the trip down to IC for the game next week. Why? We're a really bad football team. We'll likely be 4-7. Why am I going, without question, and even somewhat excited for next week's affair?

I truly think that as hard as it may be, especially with the trend in our program, I love this program so much I can't stand to miss a game; waste the final football Saturday for over 9 months. I tailgate, and love the atmosphere and everything. Why give that up? Why give up seeing Back in Black one last time? As cheesy as it sounds, listening to the band Pregame is part of what makes College football so special.

Most importantly, I think the players, particularly the seniors, deserve to have as many Hawkeye fans possible there. Supporting the hard work they've put in to try and strive to be the best they can be, for themselves as a team, as well as us, and the entire state of Iowa.

I know we're bad. But this team hasn't given up or mailed it in yet. They've still played hard; that in itself should be something we all can be proud of.

This may be a stupid post and me just thinking as I type, but I'm curious as to why you'll attend the game next week, or why you won't, for that matter.

I will be there for many of the same reasons you mentioned. Senior Day, Mycah Hyde hasnt had a great season but he returned that INT against Missouri to win the border war, and other seniors.

You have to hope for the upset.

And I have my son coming in from Boston to watch his first game in Kinnick in two seasons. He flew to the Mich St game this year and said it was one of his best hawk memories.

And on game day saturdays I now have my 7 month old grandson, daughter and son in law to visit in North Liberty. Visiting your first grandchild makes the hawks losing a football game very small as it was when my kids were born.

Then my son turned into a rabid hawk fan which made the last 20 years of hawk football great with him and my daughter too.

I do have tickets. I probably won't make a final decision on attending the game until sometime next Wed or Thu.

If I go, it will be because I want to watch my favorite team.

If I decide not to go, I won't be scalping my tickets (mainly because it will be too late to mail & I'm 5 hrs from IC, not going to drive there just to scalp), it will be because the only way the significant changes needed to fix this program will happen is if people who don't like the direction of the program (like myself) stop going to games.

i love football, kinnick, the hawkeyes, beer, and the total experience. This team is still fighting, so Ill be there no matter what.

There's nowhere I would rather be than Kinnick stadium on gameday. There's nothing like it. I look forward to being at the games every year win or lose, rain or shine. Go Hawks!

Seeing all the bugeaters gloating with big **** eating grins on their faces on our home turf would be too much for me. I hate to lose.

I'll go because I haven't missed a home game in almost 14 years. I don't really plan on enjoying it though.

Ditto to every positive comment above.
You wait 9 months for being uniquely fortunate to walk into Kinnick over a period of 90 days....then it's gone.
Tens of thousands of other watchers/listeners certainly wish they were there. Some will someday make it/make it back. Some never will.
Life is short.

Co-sign my Hampton friend.......

Have gone round and round on this many times. I pride myself in being a diehard and never missing a home game, but I am sick of this team and this season. I have thought about selling my tickets (never even occurred to me in nearly 25 years as a season ticket holder), but realistically right now, the market just isn't there. If I thought I could get major bucks for them, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It just isn't worth it to me to only break even. I am definitely looking forward to the last tailgate of the year, so I will most likely head into the stadium since the tickets are already paid for.

Here's the thing, you were only going to get premium $$$ if Iowa was doing good and people wanted to keep their tickets. In that case you wouldn't have wanted to get rid of them because as an Iowa fan you would've went and watched a good Iowa team take on Nebby.

I will attend but mostly because what else is one to do when trashed that early in the day in Iowa City other than get a public intox?

Wow. This is a beautiful post. This nails it exactly.

I remember going to games as a boy with my dad. Those were golden saturdays. He was excited to be in the stadium and I was excited to be with him. We usually lost; but occasionally we pulled off the big upset and won the game. Win or lose, I really enjoyed those moments. And then we got to live the entire Fry era, when Iowa became a real power. That was a true privilege to see those great teams play.

He's gone now and I will never have another Saturday with them in that stadium. But I can still go to games with other people I care about.

The winning and losing takes care of itself; just being there makes it very special. It is stupid to sell your tickets to Nebraska fans; go to the game and enjoy the day

Like I said, there are going to be a lot of people that are going to be sorely disappointed that they aren't going to make buku bucks on their tickets. Nebby fans on the Rivals board are saying they are finding tickets now below face easily and many think you will be able to find scalper tix right before kickoff for $20. Bandwagon jumpers are not going to make a killing on this game...not even close...

The I-O-W-A chants have been few and far between this year and this O isn't going to miss one last chance to do it again. (And yes I think we score at least one TD vs. Nebby)

Plus it's football on a Friday, I don't have to work and I will be drinking beer when I would be normally headed to the office, that there is all the reason I need to make the final game.
