If you're a D1-caliber QB

Why would you even consider coming to Iowa?

Kinnick Stadium seems to be the place where good high school quarterbacks go to die under KirFer and Greg Davis, especially between their junior and senior years: James Vandenberg, Jake Rudock, and now CJ Beathard. Rudock at least used his final year of eligibility to transfer to a program led by a former NFL head coach who coached him up and got him into the NFL, even as a member of the Detroit Lions' practice squad.

Very difficult at this point to picture CJB going anywhere after this season other than back to Tennessee.

Come to Iowa. Start one season and transfer as fast as you possibly can.
We're thinking the same thing Boat. I was going to suggest going the other route though. Tear up the FCS circuit (or perhaps the MAC conference...no reason), come to Iowa for your senior or graduate transfer season, then get the heck out. It's not a great idea two be coached for a second full season under this staff.

with all due respect to the names you listed, the only two good HS quarterbacks the Hawkeyes have gotten under Ferentz were Tate and Christiansen. One of those was highly overrated.

Tate was here under okeefe, wasn't he? But even he didn't have as good a senior season as he did a junior, no?

I thought playing in a pro style offense was some kind of advantage. It is clearly not at least in Iowa's case.
