If there is a way for Iowa to get screwed....

If the Hawks had not been Royally Screwed at Minneapolis

There would be no doubt concerning whether or not WeBeDancing.....!

CORRECTION: Just found it....1998-1999 We both went 9-7...we swept Indiana....we went 20-11, Indiana went 20-12....they went, we didn't.

That was the first time I remember RPI playing a big role. We lost to a bad 10-17 UNI team and got beat handily by Michigan in the B10 tournament to give a bad impression to the committee, even though we were the 4 seed and they were the 5. First B10 team with 20 wins that was left out because we played a really weak non-conference schedule, and they made an example out of us for it.

Not sure if one could label any team with 14 losses as being "screwed" by the committee...if not selected.

Exactly. About the only way you could call it getting "screwed" would be to win BTT then either get a 16-seed or a "play-in" game.

Even making the finals of BTT--while helping the cause immensely--doesn't guarantee us a spot, it only provides reference point for debate on the merits of the Hawks vs. other at-large teams with similar cases.

Historically, when the committee talks they often mention that the tournaments don't matter that much...the way I recall...Other than the automatic bids...

Or I could be having a case of fake memory...

It seems like I remember that too. That's why I'm way more nervous after watching all those bubble teams in. CBS had an article listing a bunch of bubble teams and we weren't one of them.

I'd say we'd be really fortunate to get in if somehow they did. We have a handful of bad losses mixed in amongst the 14 of them. Now we are playing really well at the right time along with a handful of impressive wins too. Which is what makes it such a conundrum for the committee if Iowa can win today and say win a game or two in the BIG tourney along with the bottom of the bubble being as weak as it makes it not impossible but I wouldn't go to Vegas and bet on us today...

It's the committee that's "fake", usually :)

Not sure what the committee will do. Either way it has been a nice "turn around" run of wins for Iowa the last three games. It is a sign that Iowa is now young but also experienced at bit.

I don't see how we could complain if Iowa doesn't get in with 14 losses...that's a bunch...

At any rate, NIT is a good option for future development and a fun experience.

Hope we make it, but if not, well fans have had a bit of late season excitement rather than the all too often swoons of the past.

Perhaps we are long shots but what seems to bode well is the "talk" about Iowa's late run and improvement...pundits are noticing and the committee doesn't live in a bubble...

Run over PSU today by 10-20...and then we can talk in more earnest...
