If the head coach can meltdown, the fans are allowed the same courtesy tonight

He deserves every lambasting, rump roasting, bun toasting that comes his way tonight.

Yes, the players played at times like they were unglued, but their role model was worse.

WTF was he thinking? Or, was he even thinking? He was like a shark in a feeding frenzy, his eyes rolled up in his head and he was going on pure adrenaline.

Frankly, it was amazing the players stayed in the game, but in the end it's the same things. Missed free throws, poor shot selection and not getting out on the perimeter shooters. For Gawd's sake, it's Wisconsin. They live by the three, try guarding it.

Really happy with what I saw in the first half against Wisconsin's patented style of play.

Totally disrupted them - great thing to watch.

If given the choice between the usual methods of trying to beat this slow down ****, and an out of the box aggressive disruptive approach but with some occasional emotional overhead, I choose the latter.

I had more than one meltdown in my living room tonight that was worse than Fran's. Probably a lot more F bombs too.

I love his passion, too, and would take him over that dead fish Lickliter every time, but the 2d T was unnecessary. In his press conference he as much said he was fine with the first T, so if that one was premeditated, he got what he wanted. No good reason for the second one.

Will refs be looking for it now from him? Frankly, the team needs some key wins in tight situations to build up credibility. Izzo and Ryan have more leeway because they've got a deeper and better track record. Fran doesn't have the Big Ten resume to act that way with the refs, not yet at least.

H got the second one when he made physical contact with the referee, which I would imagine he didn't have a real intention of doing (if he did, he was literally begging to be thrown out). I can take it because the players seem to consistently respond positively to his meltdowns.

I get what you're saying, but following after the refs after he just got rung up, he was asking for trouble, regardless if it was unintentional. He lost place of where the line is, and he got burned. It hurt the team.

I"ll be shocked if there isn't a formal statement from the B1G on this soon. Because that crap was just uncalled for lunacy. Sure, get the T, show some fire. But never, EVER go after the officials...that's just bush league.

I was proud of how the team fought to stay in it tonight but it's sure getting tough to keep wearing out track 2 this broken record.

I have no doubt that he would have gotten a second T, even without bumping the official. He lost all control; the bump had little to do with whether or not he got ejected, IMO.

Classic Gene Keady, "that's bush league"

Its one thing to "fight" for your team. Its another to go ballistic and totally out of control. Fran needs some Anger management help. There is just no way a coach can behave that way. Not only does it hurt the team but it hurts the Image of the university of Iowa. Most of us thought Bobby Knight was a jerk on the court and eventually it cost him his job. McCaffrey is developing the same reputation and he is not at Indiana winning national championships.
Im sure there will be replys suggesting Im overreacting, but I always hear from coaches that they are in the game to teach young men the game of life and I have a hard time understanding the lesson of being an out of control maniac when faced with a tough situation.
Barta needs to be an athletic director and deal with this problem before McCaffrey really does something bad.
McCaffrey could have a nice run at Iowa (jury still out) but he needs to get his temper under control

Fran wears all of his emotions on his sleeve. He hollars at the refs and his players so much that he is starting to lose his ability to lead.
I love his passion but he does us no good when he is in the locker room during the critical part of the game. The players will have to win in spite of Fran.
