If Lick stays: Two questions

1. On a scale of 1 to 10, what would be the magnitude of the message board meltdown? Would it be the biggest of all time?

2. Give me an over/under on how many days after the announcement it would take for something other than total mayhem to prevail on the boards?

I'll start it out by saying it'll be a 10, and yes, it will be the biggest message board conflagration of all time.

The over under is more speculative for me--I'll bet Jon or Spanky could predict it pretty well--but I'll say it takes at least a week. I might be erring on the long side. I do think it would serve to further fractionalize the fan base for the long term, though.
 
The meltdown would be massive, after the recent defections of many posters to being ok with the lickliter era ending, many would go back to their pre rumor stances and say they were right and knew it all along.

I put the over under at 2-3 weeks or however long until the end of the NCAA's when the focus will shift to the football.
 
I think a full blown meltdown would've happened if Barta had come out the day after "The Rumor" and said Lickliter is staying, after everyone got whipped into a frenzy thinking otherwise...now that there's been a few days, I think the meltdown will...hmm..."suffer"? More like a slow boil.

Edit: Need to change ONE little thing...there'd definitely be a meltdown, not sure of the day, but it would be the day after Barta says "Lick stays" and 2 starters say "we gone"...and it would be epic.

I think you would see the same thing that happened when Kiffin left Tennessee... except this time it would be for Lick staying.
 
It's the only thing that could happen to make me no longer care about Iowa basketball and that's saying something. I wouldn't even post about basketball until the Lick era was over. Yeah, yeah....save the jokes about that being one positive thing about keeping Lick around...

Radiation has lasting affects of which you must stay away from said area for years. So like radation Barta will make his bed and get to lie in it. People will stay far away from Carver next year and IMO if change is made after next season it still may make people stay away just to say screw you Barta..

Disagree. The meltdown would be bigger now or Tuesday or whenever than it would have been last Thursday. Because Barta has been silent, the assumption is that a change *will* happen. If it doesn't happen now, it's going to be a lot messier on the boards than if he had squelched the rumors right away.
 
It'll be bad for a few days....maybe a week....then it will calm down and be back to "normal" until next basketball season.
