If Iowa beats Minny, there is a really good chance they finish 8-6. LOL

Iowa likely beats Nebbie, Illinois loses to Michigan, Iowa gets whooped in the conference title and bowl games with this offense.

One of you stat nerds find me another team that finished a collegiate season 8-6. Can't have happened often, if ever.

If it has happened it was either the ACC or Big Ten West. I think Pitt finished 7-7 a few years ago.

Because I find it interesting and it speaks to what a weird year it has been for Iowa and what a shit division the West is. To play 14 games you either have to make it to your conference title game or make the playoffs. It is a little discordant to both make it to you conference title game and also lose 6 games in a season. I thought it was interesting. If you don't, change the channel.

It just hit me. Wisconsin finished 8-6 the year they backslid into the conference title game and crushed Nebraska 70 to something. Wisconsin got third in the dreaded Leaders Division but got into the title game because Ohio was on some sort of self-imposed probation and had to throw away their perfect 12-0 season and Pennsylvania had a postseason ban due to Sandusky. They lost the Rose Bowl.

Just a few weeks ago the thought of winning 8 games seemed like a pipe dream. I'll take it even if it means the Hawks wind up losing 6 games as well. Again a few weeks ago I thought the Hawks were going to lose at least 6 games.

That's even crazier. To go 8-6 and WIN the conference title is even more improbable.

Fixed it for you if it was me writing your post haha

Of those scenarios, if I had to bet, I would most certainly bet on Iowa. Then Purdue. Then Illinois.

What if everyone on that list splits the last two games????? :)
If everyone split the last two I think Purdue would get it, but it would take a lot for Purdue to lose to either Northwestern or Indiana.

Well honestly if Purdue were at its best, they'd have the best chance to keep up with the East champion but probably not OSU. Purude's problem is its defense is only average to below.

If everyone splits then Wisconsin is back in the hunt.

I dont want Iowa in there to be honest. Doesnt 'feel' like a championship sort of year if you will. Though the men on the D would probably ream my butt for saying that.

I'd take Purdue foremost, then IL. DO NOT WANT fricking Minnesota in there.

I think there are a few different defenses from the West that wouldn't look out of place in the B1G title game. But there is not a single offense that belongs on that field.

Could you even make an all-star offensive unit from West teams that could compete with OSU or Michigan? OSU's top 5 WRs are probably better than the top 5 from the West.

I suppose the Prophet prob grabs 2nd team RB after Corum and OSU's dude.

I absolutely love this line of thinking.
Finding a nonsense number that gives a legitimate value to something.
And that value, in this case, would be the mess that is the west. Some would call it parity.
It just doesn't feel like it's actually parity. Cause up until last year, between Wisconsin (mostly) and occasionally Iowa there was parity for "second place" in the whole of the Big 10.
