If Clemson and Washington both lose...

their conference championship games, do 3 B1G teams make the playoffs? From the current playoff rankings, you would think the would.

They would have to move someone up just for the sake of moving them up for it not to happen. Who is 8?

What happens if Okie St. wins?

Non-conference for Okie State was putrid, but if they win big over Boomer, then you'd have to strongly consider them as a top 4, along with Bama, Ohio State, B1G champion, given the scenario of Clemson, Washington and Oklahoma, all losing.

If Wash and Clemson both lose and Colorado wins PAC12, could Colorado jump enough to get in with Mich not playing and either Wisc or PSU losing? i dont think its possiple but Crazy that Colorado is even in the convo.

No matter what happens the committee won't have 3 B1G teams in the playoff....they just won't.

I would say:
Bama, Ohio State, B1G champion and Oklahoma.

That is a funny one on Oklahoma. OSU ass whooped them in Norman. They also lost on a neutral field to Houston which turned out to be a bad loss. No way Oklahoma should jump anyone. Michigan has wins over #s 6,7, & 8 and played #2 to an overtime game. Oklahoma has beaten whom????

Possibly but Michigan beat Colorado by 17 points earlier this year. Do you just throw that game out?

Three teams? HIGHLY unlikely. Even with the B1G in decent position for it, it's might be a stretch for 2 B1G teams. If Colorado upsets Washington, and if VT upsets Clemson, then I think Michigan or the B1G champion makes it in at #3. The 4th team might be Colorado, or whoever wins the B12 "championship".

If both Clemson and Washington lose there is no way they can keep Michigan out especially considering Michigan beat Wisconsin, PSU, and Colorado. The 4th spot would be a total toss up but I could see them giving it to PSU if they are B1G champs since they beat Ohio St. I just don't see how Oklahoma gets in with those big home losses.

The interesting thing is what happens to Iowa in this scenario...there was one situation that described exactly this scenario on Twitter...he had some actually valid logic for Iowa going to Miami for yet another Orange Bowl (As insane as that sounds)...

The juggernaut in Ames who crushed TT. Not sure how Oklahoma survived the storm.

I think it would go to Colorado before Penn State, even if PSU is conference champions. It'll be tricky because they would reward two teams (admittedly probably the top two teams in the conference) for not winning their division and not playing in that 13th game.

If there is a year for 3 teams from a conference, it's this year. But I think the CFP committee would be very wary of sending even 2 teams from the same conference due to the political upheaval it could cause in the still new system. Not saying they are obligated to pick from 4 of 5 P5 conferences, but who knows what all goes on behind the scenes...

Never understood why you would create a playoff where a conference champ will always be left out. 4 teams never made sense from the start.

Me either. 6 teams with top two first round byes (power 5 + at large bid) just seems right. 4 vs 3, 5 vs 6, 1 vs 5/6, 2 vs 3/4. It is at most one more game for four teams. Bu they'll go to 8 because money. First round will be on campus.

I could totally get on board with that. One little tweak though. I am morally opposed to letting anyone in that doesn't have to play a 13th game. So instead of 6, basically call it what is it and make it 12. So conference championship week become week 1 of the playoffs with the 10 division winning teams making it and the 2 best at large teams playing to get in as well.

So this year it would be:

Penn St. vs Wisconsin
Bama vs Florida
Clemson vs Virginia Tech
Washington vs Colorado
Oklahoma vs Okie St.

Play in game would be:

OSU vs Michigan rematch

If everything goes well, you could always expand and add 4 more at large teams down the road and make it a 16 team playoff basically. I hope this year blows the whole thing up for the sham that it is. The system is set up to protect the blue bloods and keep everyone else out that they can. OSU in already, do you think a 1 loss TCU/Baylor make it in?? Oh yeah they don't. A 2 loss Michigan who finishes 3rd in its division could get in.....you think a 2 loss anyone else not named Michigan on the planet has a shot in hell of getting in while finishing 3rd in its division???? LOL man, the system is rigged.

The playoffs are a joke and these CFP rankings are a joke. The playoffs are just more 'corporate' greed as they exploit and risk the health of young (unpaid) athletes in order to line their pockets. I don't even care if there is a 'champion' (it's meaningless in the grand scheme of life) but the BCS was good enough in pitting the best teams and naming someone a champion. In what way does being on a 'championship' team benefit the players as they move on in sports, business, politics, family, etc...? Tell me all the 'success' stories from kids showing off their rings......

And the rankings are a joke, because if they 'mean' anything Clemson, Washington and Oklahoma losing should AUTOMATICALLY put 3 B1G teams in the playoffs, But it won't happen. Now if it were the SEC in this situation, they probably would put 3 SEC teams in.
