Cy-Hawk Trophy is history | Hawk Central

“I know this is the era of corporate sponsors,â€￾ Bob Uetz (trophy's creator) said. “I can’t imagine them doing this with Floyd of Rosedale (which goes to the Iowa-Minnesota winner). Why they’re doing it with the Cy-Hawk? I don’t know.â€￾

I feel for the guy a bit, because this is his baby...but please man, just let it go. It will have a good home.

Floyd has been around for almost 80 years, Cy-Hawk trophy, less than 30. Add to that Floyd is made of 100 lbs of bronze and Cy-hawk is some plywood and plastic figurines.

Dude needs to realize that comparing the Cy-Hawk to Floyd pretty much makes the case for getting rid of it.

It's the law of comparisons. The Cy-Hawk by itself is brutal The Cy-Hawk next to Floyd is beyond brutal.

Floyd is probably the greatest trophy in all of college football.

If the clowns want the trophy for display, give it to them. After all they don't have very many trophies to display anyway. Plus, it would be great to see the trophy retired in Ames and everyone looking at the trophy would see that Iowa heavily dominated the series for those 30 years. BUT at least the clowns would have a shiny new trophy to show off, even if they couldn't win many games.

“The previous trophy will be placed permanently in a prominent place in the state of Iowa,â€￾ he said

Buried in an anonymous cornfield so this thing can never be seen again.

“Today, that thing is iconic. It’s a game-opening shot on TV, the players run over and grab it and hoist it in the air.

Carefully, so as not to break it.
