I refuse to accept the idea that better candidates told us no because they didnt like the job. They told us no because there wasnt enough financial incentive. When the contract details are released, I think we will have our answer.
So we will go into next season with dwindling ticket sales and little excitement to energize the fanbase.

You can't make someone take a job, and our funds are not unlimited. Barta said he would pay market, we would have had to pay at least market + 50% to bring some of names people wanted, and even that might not have been enough. Why uproot to some random town and school when you have a successful program? Assuming we even could "buy" a coach, we likely don't have the funds to be paying 3-4 million or so.

What world are you living in?? Iowa is not a "dream job" let alone a "top-tier" job. We are a football and wrestling school and have not made the commitment to basketball that many other schools have. It is a HUGE reason why we CANNOT attract the big name candidates to Iowa. Like Hayden Fry said, the hardest thing about Iowa is selling it to the kids who you offer scholarships to. Most top name bball recruits dont know where Iowa is let alone want to play there so why would top coaches what to come here?? I think FM has a chance to revive the program but it is not going to be easy......

Iowa has made its choices. First, I will never buy the money thing. Do you realize how much money comes in from a full arena. How much money comes in from licensed apparel. Enough to pay a competitve salary.

I don't buy the football school excuse either. Competitive athletic depts do not choose to be crap in a sport. You can recruit to Iowa City, it like most college towns. You think Lawrence KS is cultural center.
