I want the old Ricky back

If what we saw last night, particularly on that final drive, is the end result of all the coaching he got this summer on protecting the football, then I say "screw it" and bring back Ricky the gunslinger. Pretty hard to come back in the final minutes when your QB is afraid to squeeze a ball into tight coverage and instead takes sack after sack after sack. That final drive, I felt like I was watching JC circa 2007.

Did you see the pass rush? Hard to sling it when you 1 second before 4 angry men are trying to kill you

And before people point to the O-Line, they were pretty occupied with the OTHER 4 or 5 guys on the rush.

Agreed. IMO we needed at least Resiner to stay in to help block but he was out running routes. The lack of adjustments to their overwhleming pass rush was very frustrating to me

You put the final drive on Stanzi? Classic. He held it too long on one play...he had zero chance on the others.

No, not at all. There were just several times I noticed that he was holding it a lot longer than he normally does and ate a few sacks that he normally wouldn't. I have to believe there were hot routes on that last drive that he could have attempted to hit, but maybe my mind is not allowing me to remember how quickly the rush got to him on those last few plays. Either way, it's evident that he's thinking a lot more this year instead of reacting.

He needs a running game. Much better off of play action, or on roll outs. Iowa could not run the ball...this was really a total team loss. OL, especially Reiff struggled more than expected, DL not as good as expected, and Sp Tms totally let the team down.

I say never play on the west coast again (PST), unless it is a bowl game. Once could be a fluke, but there is enough of a record now to suggest Iowa will struggle in these games.
