I think we need to Give Brian Ferentz his due.

With a banged up, young Oline, he's done a tremendous job with the running game. Having a QB that can beat you down field is a big help, I know. It's nice to see us imposing our will in the trenches. Especially in the 2nd half of these recent games. Nice job.

A lot of folks thought that the "running game coordinator" designation was somewhat cosmetic. Anyone still feel that way?

I have to admit, I am a little confused how exactly Iowa suddenly has a dominating running game. But I guess thats the key. If I am confused, so are opposing defenses. but teams will figure it. they will watch the ILL and NW games on video and will make adjustments.

But I agree its time to give some credit to Iowa's new running game coordinator, B. Ferentz. The running game has improved, obviously, this year.

Kirk Ferentz may have finally found the right combo to replace KOK. CJB, B.Ferentz, and G. Davis. working together like a fine-tuned machine.

Yes to Ferrntz and also lets give credit to Doyle These guys are just stronger and better conditioned than anybody else

I am starting to think all of the all the assistants need their due. Chris White has been doing a great job with the running backs. D Line has been playing great, Linebackers are much better than I expected.

It has been observed that the coach's kid has been performing at National Assistant Coach of the Year level.

After the Let's GO IOWA cheers, they showed Brian with a smile on his face. I wondered if it was because the cheers at the time. After seeing a tweet referencing the cheers, I assume that was the reason for the smile. Good stuff.

and in 2020 it will be new IOWA HC ... Brian is a keeper in many ways

It has been observed that Dad has put Brian on this path. I had my doubts. But we don't know what goes on behind the walls of Fort Kinnick. Do you think in five years Brian will be the next Iowa HC? Today's game was observedly damn impressive.

The O-line has been incredible. With all the injuries, who would have thought?

I agree with Jon Miller in his Instant Reaction Podcast, that Brian Ferentz needs to be in any serious discussion for National Assistant Coach of the Year.

The Iowa running game is phenomenal, and the O-line deserves a lot of credit!

He's beginning to make me a believer. Hats off to the rest of the staff as well. The second half in these games is showing they are doing something right.

The hate Brian Ferentz crowd always cracked me up. It is like they hated the old man, so they just transferred that hate upon him as well. I have been saying for over a year now, just turn the whole offense over to him, and lets turn this biotch up a notch.

Well BF is on pace to be the OC sometime , here or elsewhere. KF jumped from Off Line coach to head coach at Maine.

Other teams have had Run Game and Pass Game coordinatores, Bobby Stoops at OU for example, and I think BF is making some great in-game and halftime adjustments.

One good thing about the injuries is that Iowa will have five experienced linemen returning next year.

When is anyone gonna give Greg Davis his due? Ever? Is it because no one wants to admit KF makes a really bad 'OC'?

You know, it took someone else in his family for KF to realize his limitations on offense and to turn those responsibilities over to someone who knew more about offense.

Kudos to Brian Ferentz. Kudos to Greg Davis. Kudos to Ferentz 3.0!

We've heard over the past 2 years that Brian and Kirk had been butting heads about "old school vs new(er) school" and I have no doubts that there have been plenty of conversations that only a father and a son can have...heated conversations that could get another assistant fired or demoted or damage a friendship, but can't break a father-son bond and has led to Kirk 2.0.

A hire that a lot of people were crying "nepotism" over a few years ago may just wind up being the best hire "Old Kirk" ever made...with the possible exception of the forever awesome, Norm Parker that is...
