Having been a basketball coach for 29 years...there are certain officials you get a history with. That being said you simply must bite your lip and bend over and take it like a man. Those are the facts of officiating and coaching PERIOD. For Fran to do what he does makes me realize how Nebraska football fans feel about their coach. I love the fire and passion...but it simply gets lost in translation. We have a team striving to make the big dance...they need their head coach, they deserve their head coach. This is simply inexcusable and I for one hope the league and Iowa come down hard on Fran. My 2 cents...

Why do you hope they come down on Fran? What's that going to accomplish? We knew what we were getting when Iowa hired him, so why is everybody acting so appalled by the incident? I mean, I get your point, but it'll be a slap on the wrist and on with the show.

I should of clarified...a slap on the wrist, including a fine and possible one game suspension is coming down hard. I think he needs to know the B1G and Iowa will not tolerate these actions.

Having been a basketball coach for 30 years - and working at 3 Big Ten camps during various summers.... having a set of conference officials who get used to certain coaches and certain arenas is a big part of a 40 minute game. Scouting officials is huge. A couple schools even run certain plays depending which official is on the baseline.

Coaches reputations and the Wis, Duke, Mich St, Syracuse just don't get beat at home - those key moments where you don't shoot the FT and the home team does - doesn't happen at every home court. It's part of how you keep working in a league. Maybe in by the middle of February, Iowa will get those situations at home and pick up a couple on the road... let's see how this plays out and maybe we'll look back on @Wis as a key moment of the season.

I have a feeling last night's outburst has been building for a while. There has been multiple instances this year where Iowa has been hosed by some horrible officiating (the Bahamas for instance) where Fran seemed to just shrug it off. Even in Ames, Fran seemed to be calmer than Fred towards the officials. I think he simply reached a point where he could no longer bite his tongue and lost his cool. Maybe he feels better now and will continue on BAU.
