I DRINK KOOL AID!!!!

For the record I will always do my best to have a positive outlook when it comes to our Hawkeye teams. I celebrate success and feel like crap when the team fails. I remember after a big win I had mentioned concerns I had for the team but never would I go back and rub it in everyone elses nose, "YEAH, I WAS RIGHT!!!". Fellow Hawkeye fans celebrating failures???? Come on!

On Thursday I will root for Iowa as hard as I can, if they win I will be on here celebrating with fellow Hawk fans. God forbid if they lose I will be venting along with some of you, but either way when the next day rolls around I will still be drinking the Kool Aid and hoping for the best for this team.

So to you "negative nancies", KMA!!!!

:D

GO HAWKS!!!!

I try to look at the positive side too. I mean I'm not going to lie, these last two weeks have been difficult to remain positive.

I kind of look at it like this after missing out on winning the leage how much energy to I want to waste wallowing around in what ifs... We didn't get the first round bye, whatever, we can still win a few...never did think winning the BTT was anything more than a crap shoot. Won't get the three seed at the dance, so? We are in it and that is something that hasn't happened in a long time.

I can't wait to see the Iowa Hawkeyes listed next Sunday. I don't care who they play or their path to the Final Four. Their in and I am stoked about that...

And to all of you doubters, they are a lock. You don't go from 15 weeks in the top 25 to being out of the last poll with a loss in East Lansing and on a last second shot to being out of the top 68 for the tournament. Yep, they are limping in probably at a 7, 8 or 10 but I don't care they are in and for right now that is enough.

Also hard to stay pessimistic for the future when it looks like Fran is doing fine on the recruiting trail.

Let's go Hawks!

It'd probably help if the ones who express any degree of doubt weren't spat on for having such gall.

Triton, I agree and if the Hawks do go 1 and done in the BTT I will still enjoy watching Iowa's name get called into the field of 68. It would have been more fun had Iowa not stumbled down the stretch but it will be nice to see Iowa back in the tournament even if it means playing in the 1st round.

I have been there and I know you have been as well, but that still does not make it right rubbing it into each others noses when one of our negative predictions comes true.

The way I look at it is this. Losing is contagious and once you start losing and your goal can no longer be met its hard to stay focused. This didn't happen because our players or coaches suck. It happened because a few bounces didn't go our way then things snowballed. It happens all the time and unfortunately it happened to us.

Now that the regular season is over its like we are starting fresh. I could easily see us come out with the same intensity that we did when we **** stomped our conference champs. If we don't and we lose out, then at least they helped make this crap winter more bearable.

I guess this kind of goes with a thread I've already started but I'd be a lot more thirsty for the kool aid had we been able to get the 5 seed.

With that said, this year was all about taking the next step and the next step is to make the NCAA tournament and we'll still do that. Granted at one point this year we thought we had positioned ourself to leap instead of step so this is a tad bit disappointing but I'm happy to hear about a couple solid recruits and it's March... anything can happen and I'm certainly not going to let anything get in the way of enjoying watching the hawks play in the NCAA tourney because you never know when your next 10 year draught is coming.

Couldn't have said it any better. The past couple of weeks have stunk but in the big picture of things this year is just another step and building block for the future.

Good post. Easy to get caught up in the negativity. It usually passes quickly. A lot left in this season. Making the NCAA was the target at the beginning of the year so can't lose sight of that.

Look at it this way - a lot less pressure now. They can play looser, and get back to their play in the first 2/3 of the season. Maybe they weren't really a top 10 team or maybe they weren't ready to be a top 10 team (but now it doesn't really matter, since making the tournament is what we were "expecting" this year, which doesn't require you to be in the top 10). So, they come out, play loose but with focus, and they can surprise people. It can happen. They can play with other good teams. They've done it this year. New teams they haven't faced this year could be just the medicine they need.

The program is still on the way up. Good recruits coming in. Success isn't always linear, as long as it is at least 2 steps forward for every 1 back, they'll be fine. However, as a fan, I can't always assure myself of that same logic or patience.

Really? All I will say is wow!. You think I don't know who this thread is directed at ssc? Celebrating failure? I bumped for the mere fact that I never seen his bet, to say lucky you. You have no idea who I am and to be making assertions and think I relish in Hawk Failure is pathetic.

Still surprised by your comment in that thread but even more surprised by the fact you starting a thread on it. Amazing!!

I will always drink the Kool Aid I just drink from a different glass and Bar than you.. I guess that bothers you!!

GO HAWKS!!

For the record this is what he is referring to, pretty obvious.. You tell me this has never happen before on a message board when someone bumps the thread to another poster.. I will move on..

Okay, we'll put the over/under at 4th. If they finish 4th it is a push. If they finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd I win the bet. If they finish worse than 4th you win the bet. Loser can't post on the basketball forum until 1/1/15? That's pretty harsh but I'm that confident. I'll bet whatever.

Bumped for my buddy Windsor. Damn I actually never read what you wrote until tonight. :) Lucky You!! :)

Now not say I told you so...but I have said this team is in dire need of playing someone outside the conference. I firmly believe if we roll Northwestern, we will give MSU a run for their money. Do I think we are physically up to that challenge??? Yes I really do, I think the pressure of the regular season being done is going to be huge for these guys and their coaches. No more life on the road...having to win at home, etc.

We are still a match-up nightmare for teams who have one or two days to prepare for us. I still believe in my kool-aid filled heart that we are a sweet 16 team.

This is the start of many consecutive NCAA tourney berths. There will be ups and downs along the way. This is the best part of the year, and a fresh start for the hawks. Enjoy it.

Pound your chest some more HawkPrdatr40, you chased off a fellow Hawk fan who is guilty of nothing more than having a different opinion than you.

But no, you are not the only one this thread was pointed at.

I chased him off by bumping a thread and saying lucky for you I didn't see your bet? He is the one who bet ssc not me. Pretty fascinating stuff. I now wish I didn't go back and read that thread. Like I said I honestly didn't see his bet. It is what it is and by no means was I celebrating Iowa freefall.

Hard to believe that 30 minutes after you ripped me in that thread you created another thread using similar content. I wasn't born yesterday. :) Like I have said many, many times on here it is a message board and people will react in different ways.
