I don't mean to be a homer...

Next year is as excited as I've been for Iowa basketball. As a fellow tiger, I've followed Jok since high school, and I'm not sure many know just how good the guy is.. Fran should have tried to have a system that had him and marble running the show, but I'll accept Fran is the coach and he knows best.

That being said, besides marble, we don't really lose MUCH talent, and have some guys coming back that had a lot of experience this year. Not to mention recruiting should go well.

Jok will replace marble just fine I believe.

I knew we weren't going to win tonight, but I'm stoked for the future!

Go hawks!

Similar to Marble, Jok will be great at passing and FGs from three and deep twos. But he's lesser athleticism and length will hurt for foul production and defense. He is a different type of player.

But I can't say Iowa will be just as talented next year in spite of lost of Marble, Basabe, and McCabe. Rebounds and defense will most likely be of lesser value. Only way to over achieve this season is from outstanding coaching or surprises from inexperienced freshmen/Juco.

REally?? It went into overtime and we led for the first 37 minutes of regulation.

Our three leading scorers struggled and we went into OT.

I firmly thought the hawks had the better chance tonite,

Nobody has brought it up yet so I will. How about that game by Woody! The big fella has a bright future if he continues to develop like he has been.

I'm disappointed with the loss and the early exit from the tournament. But I am excited for next year. I think Jok could be special and if he continues to develop Woody will be a huge asset inside. I do hope the incoming players are scorers -- Iowa was in such dire need of shooters the last half of this season.

I don't think Marble's departure will be that much of a loss next year. He could disappear on you at times and that hurt. It would be nice for other players to have to step up and be ready to take the game on their shoulders instead of always looking to RDM, who seemingly lost his shooting and possession touch in tight games.

Losing Marble, it will force other players to want to "be the man" in the clutch situations.
The incoming talent may not be 5-star recruits, but they seem to fit where the team needs improvements.

Yes, really. Tennessee played Florida tough a few days ago. Iowa has been playing poorly. In march, a big factor is how you're playing NOW, and leading up to the dance, not what you did throughout the season. So yes, when I had to put my money where my mouth was, I picked Tennessee.

I've followed Jok since well before he was a Tiger. I know how good he can be...and I expect him to be very good. He had no place running the show this year. However, he improved as the season progressed and looks to be ready to take a step up next year. I love his silky smooth shot.

Do you see how we played without Basabe when he was sick? May have been the turning point of the season, actually.

I agree...and don't think he ever really got over it. He never got the energy/edge back.

Edit - Basabe brought a lot to the team...some of which wasn't obvious. This is why I don't automatically discount Uhl being in the rotation next year. If he can come in and contribute some of the things we got from a healthy Basabe then he will could very well play and contribute right away.

I think we will be just fine talent wise. My big concern is who is going to step up and be a leader? Nobody wanted the job this season.

Maybe Dickerson? Who knows but it is absolutely essential that someone does it.

Did anyone watch Gesell play high school and AAU ball? Did he show the on court leadership abilities?

Until the upper classmen leave a guy like gesell is not going to try to usurp marble, May and White.

But I hope gesell and Josh O have it in them. I think Woody does
