I apologize to my apologist self

If you look back over my posts i'm a pretty positive, the glass is half full, even when its only got a couple drops in it, sort of guy. That's kinda how i'm wired. I was glad to see coach Ferentz say last night after the game that this isn't the standard and never will be, which i assumed was an homage to everybody saying 7-5 is now the expectation based on the contract stuff. Last night was a brutal kick to the stones after an already tough season. You got a bye week to prepare, its national tv, you just had a mini-scandal because of a recruit mess, and a chance on a national stage to give everybody a reason to still be stoked about your program, and then....that happened. They looked shell-shocked like after the first play in the Rose Bowl when McCaffrey was a ps4 player in an Atari world on us.
I've been a guy who has defended the program a ton, but something is really wrong this year. I've seen every good and bad year of Iowa football under Fry and Ferentz, and there are always similarities, but this is tough cause I just don't get it, honestly. I'm not used to our oline getting whooped every week, especially veterans. Not used to seeing our dline look so listless. Even more so, i've never seen our defense look like our players have no idea where they're supposed to be. One thing you could always count on with our D is guys would be where they're supposed to be, they're not this year. I just don't understand that.
Here's what I do know, our offensive woes start at WR. You go against 8-10 guys in the box every week and your not gonna be successful if the other team has equal or even on par talent. We all know wr's can't get open, that's not a talent problem, they have talent. You don't have to have 4.3 speed to get open, you can get there with good route running and scheming, which this team has had in the past. Route running has to be taught, and scheming is all by design, aka coaching. I'm not a kill the coach guy, but these things are apparent to me.....we desperately need a new coach and teacher of the wr's, and we desperately, as in this week, need a new OC. I don't even care if its Brian, but this team needs a new OC, this week.Sorry for the long diatribe, i had to fight the apologist in me.

New OC is not going to change the program at this point. To little to late. Ferentz and the Davis experiment should have been out after 2014. This year is a sinking ship and we are all just watching her take on massive amounts water. Michigan has the torpedo that will eventually sink her.

Anyone stop to think that if North Dakota St. (who was actually better last season) and Ohio St, been on our schedule last year, we may have had 4 losses and we wouldn't be bitching about a 10 year deal. Ferments shows us every few years how he has nine lives!!!

Ferentz simply struck gold last year. With an already weak schedule, we caught Wisconsin on a down year and rode the momentum into the sunset. It was a farce, a "fake ID season," a hoax, whatever else you want to call it. I don't expect a fool like Barta to realize that though. Barta is too swept up in the idea of KF, or is being held hostage, or whatever, to see reality.

At this point I'm looking forward to Michigan firing that torpedo and sinking this listing boat of terrible.

I'll buy the replace Greg Davis sentiment. Scheme is horrible. No continuity or rythym...etc. and I have no idea what he 'dumps' on our QB's their senior years that makes them 'regress' so horribly. As you well know, I never thought CJ was a 'great' QB last year, but I at least thought he would get better. And how can a defense that was so good and consistent last year, return almost everyone and look so bad and lost? The 3 guys they lost from last year weren't superstars, just regular Iowa 'program' players (Meier, Fisher, Lomax). Something is 'up' inside the program, and like someone said, we'll never know what it is....but I do know, there is no leadership from the seniors on this team (doesn't surprise me, I've always said that CJ and King are 'me' people), there is no 'fire', and the only person who looks like their enjoying playing is Wadley, but he couldn't block on a pass play if his life depended on it. (Did you see that youth football 'cower' block attempt he had on one of the sacks, lol......good god, why would you have him in there if the back is staying in to block). I don't mind getting beat by a better team (it happens), but to look like our coaching IQ is equal to how many points we scored is a little embarrassing for 'them' (does't affect me any). I agree with some that we need a 'staff shake-up' soon. KF isn't going anywhere, so he better surround himself with some better folks in a hurry. Davis and Kennedy need to go ASAP. Our passing game is the worst I've ever seen it (and it wasn't that 'great' last year), and where are all these great Texas recruits that they were going to bring in to 'turn around', our program, lol....We have one starter, 'Smith' and he's 'lighting it up'. I'm not impressed with our new LB coach either. Our LB's have never looked so lost under KF, and it is NOT for a lack of talent.
