Hunter Johnson?

Hunter Johnson was a Five Star Quarterback who is now transferring from Clemson. He was originally from Brownsburg, Indiana. Thoughts on looking into him to be a potential starter in two years??? Kelvin Bell has developed a great reputation in Indiana and Toks Akinribade went to Brownsburg as well.

Sounds like he's more likely to end up at NW or Purdue, which sucks for Iowa. Hopefully he doesn't end up at Nebraska. Looks like he did hold an Iowa offer as a recruit and was recruited by Jim Reid who's not even at Iowa anymore.

Guessing a 5 star dual threat who wants to start isn't going to like the idea of having to learn a pro-style offense and then sit behind stanley for a year just to get his chance.

Kirk’s idea of a dual threat is putting a running back and a full back in the backfield at the same time.

The idea of a five star dual threat coming to Iowa........................ ROFLMAO ...................... laughing so hard I think I cracked a rib..................... tears ............... Ummmm that would be a B1G NO.

For what's it's worth to this discussion, Hunter Johnson was considered a pocket passer by Rivals and 24/7.

Yeah I am confused. 247 sports said

Johnson ranked as the nation's No. 2 pro-style passer and 30th overall player in the 247Sports Composite.

Ok, ok we can still laugh at the thought of any 5 star QB wanting to play for Mr HOA warrior, right?

What's he got 4 yrs to play 3 now? With how our QB depth chart is I don't see their being any mutual interest.

I think there would be interest from Iowa's side if they think that Johnson would be better than Mansell and/or Petras. They look to take a QB in every class. Even more so if Stanley has a great year, there's a chance (albeit probably a slight one) that he could leave early. Now if he did end up at Iowa, either Mansell or Petras would probably leave but you don't worry about that if you have a chance at a QB that was rated that high and you believe he can make your team better.

Now whether Johnson would come to Iowa is a whole different story.

I sent the kid a text this morning and have not heard back.

I would think Iowa's depth chart would hurt it in this situation. Barring injury or Stanley leaving early, he comes here, he's waiting until Year 3 to compete for the starting job.

Wow, you're texting in that rarefied air? Kudos, Rob!

It's one of those things where IF Johnson had interest Iowa would probably listen I think your right if that's what your getting at. But with better options out there for him to get earlier PT there'd just have to be more to it for him to be interested in us.

Don't see him having any interest in a program that is obsessed with running between the tackles regardless of the opposing defensive scheme.

Saw the thread title and thought you referring to the Wisconsin redshirt freshman from our personal rival Darlington. Hunter was a prolific scorer in high school, much like Brandon Wegher but it appears he will play on the defensive side of ball for Bucky.

This. Sounds way too sexy for I-O-WAY. One of our competitors will get him and we'll get burned by him is the more likely scenario.
