Huge Opportunity to Keep Michigan Program in Influx this weekend

Does Rich Rod survive with only a 6 win season? What about a 7 win season?

If they lose this weekend they'll drop to 1-2 in Big 10 play. Then they go to Happy Valley for a night game, and with their defense I wouldn't count that an automatic W by any means.

Then they get Illinois. That game could go either way assuming they lose to us and Penn State. Then they travel to Purdue and wrap up with Wisconsin at home and @ Ohio State.

If they lose to us on Saturday, I think they'll be lucky to get more than 2 wins out of their existing schedule. If they only get one more win the rest of the way Rich Rod will be done in my opinion.

What about 2 wins though? They'd be 3-5 in Big 10 play. 7-6 overall. I don't want Rich Rod and this offense around much longer. Once their defense improves (which it will eventually) they'll be very good.

It'd be nice to see them have to go through yet another change at the helm. Our division is going to be tough enough as it is with Michigan State, Nebraska, and that other team whose beaten us 4 out of our last 5 meetings...

I think the offensive improvement gives them hope.....they will need to get rid of Greg Robinson as defensive coordinator in order for RR to keep his job, IMO.

I could see something like this unless they totally implode the last half of the season. Like Zook they will force DickRod to hire new assistants to see if that can right the ship. With DR if they get a decent defense next year they could be a force.

I'm going to piggy back off what you are saying.......The Michigan faithful will start nitpicking if that haven't already about G.Robinson's resume, which hasn't been good the last 7 or 8 years.

However D. Robinson by himself can probably get another 2 or 3 wins to get them to a outback or gator bowl which would be enough to save his job for now. Regardless, I think G.Robinson is done as the d-coordinator after this year, either RRod will be force to fire him or come to the conclusion on his own that it is not working.

Losing to MSU, for the third consecutive time, is not going to sit well with Blue faithful. If however, they find a way to updend tOSU, he will get another year or two no matter what happens the rest of the way.

I thought you were already convinced that this Michigan offense was an unstoppable machine and that the B10 title was going to run through Ann Arbor for the foreseeable future?

Rich Rod will be lucky for a 2-6 or 3-5 big ten slate, but with Robinson might buy one more season, but with expect Jim H back in Michigan within 2 season. Cannot win in Big Ten or any big conference with the defensive style he plays works in Big East but no big college football.

Harbaugh will be the 49ers head coach next year.

It will if Rich Rod gets a long enough leash. We need to capitalize off of impatience which has killed numerous programs over the years. Greedy fans expect instant results at programs like Michigan. They implemented a total offenseive transformation that is finally starting to see the fruits of its labor this year. The only thing most Michigan alums didn't see happening was the absolutely pathetic defense. It shouldn't happen at a school like Michigan that can always recruit a defense. The scary part is that something that shouldn't happen won't keep happening for long.

Rich Rod gets half a defense in Ann Arbor and it's not going to be fun playing Michigan. I'd just assume not allow him another year, and watch them spend another 2-3 years getting back to a pro-style system.

It remains to be seen whether his offensive system will stand the test of the B10. The only legitimate B10 team they've played this year just shut them down last Saturday.

And, In Influx? Really?

Part of that is because Michigan didn't capitalize in the red zone and threw an INT in the first quarter. They fell behind quickly because their defense can't stop anyone.

The margin for error right now for Michigan's offense is very small because they can't rely on their defense. If they get down 10 points they have to abandon alot of their running plays and and Robinson has to throw the football downfield more.

If Michigan had Michigan State's defense they would have absolutely embarassed Michigan State on Saturday.

I don't think it remains to be seen on Michigan's offense. Their problem with now is they aren't getting any help from their defense in bigger games. If that part of the equation changes then watch out.

I agree with the OP.

scUM's going to turn out to be not so good. The 5-0 start was uber-hype, against poor teams.

No different than last year. I don't know why everyone gets on the early Michigan bandwagon each year. They suck.

I don't think they lose to PSU, as bad as the Michigan D is, the PSU offense may be worse, they will lose to Wisconsin, Illinois and OSU along with Iowa and MSU putting them at 3-5 in the Big Ten and 7-5 overall and if this happens I think he gets 1 more year.

You left out that the interception was thrown in the end zone.

I concur, they may have a chance to get one more win than that but I dont see it.
