HUGE E - ME

Why question him on this but then assume he always makes the right call on personnel?

Slippery slope. You then have to question everythin? Staffing? Recruiting? Game plan? Technique? Development?

And if you are legitimately questioning all those things...you have yo make a change...regardless.

For what its worth I have seen enough positive change to have a little hope...but the confidence is Very cautious and fragile.

I do question all of those things. The OC hire was plain dumb. Recruiting is consistently at the bottom of the league. Gameplan? Did you watch the game today? Its easy to gameplan against crappy teams. Anynody with a pulse out plans us. Fundamentally we are not where ee used to be. Development? We used to dominate that but it doesn't show any more.

If he would have said "we sold out on return cause the off was having trouble moving the ball...and got caught" I can accept that.

So Ferentz was hoping Riley McCarron would break a long punt return? Seriously? You have to laugh to keep from crying. Iowa gets burnt on a fake punt b/c it is trying to set up a return for a guy that doesn't have a prayer of actually making a big return. Neither Powell, nor Canzeri can field a punt?

It's simply inexcusable for this to keep happening over and over again. Groundhog Day in Iowa City.

Lol, I guess I should clarify I was talking about the fake punt and not Jon's error.

Riley mccarron has break away speed. He was an incredible track man.

As should every Hawkeye.

I think the biggest mistake of the day was selling the MSU (or any opposing offense for that matter) short. Our defensive line has made some nice strides and I credit Coach Morgan but at the end of the day there is still far too much to "fix" for the offense to then leave points on the field (missed FGs) or simply give up the ball (INTs).

Here is the stupid thing. Almost everyone thinks we are going to go to the shoe and get blown out. I'm realistahawk cause I've know Iowa football....snort. My guess is we will go to Ohio State and play our best game of the year and come up short by 7 to 10 points. Just like years where expectations are high and we never come close to meeting them. This trend goes way back in my opinion. Now... two weeks to see if my prediction comes true. By the way has a Ferentz coached team ever won in the shoe? Don't know for sure but I don't think so.

Dude, if you really believe that, let's meet and bet on it.

They have a very good defense. No doubt about that. Keys to the game in my eye...

1. Offensive line play-we couldn't run. I get not being able to run much based on the defense being good and/or them stacking the box. That said, we couldn't do a thing running. Pass blocking was rough. They got pressure with their front 4 consistently outside of 2 drives.

2. Pass D-not much of a surprise I guess. I kept hearing (and believed a bit myself) that their qb was about the same as the isu and Minny qb, but if u run play action against us, we were quite bad.

3. Offensive play calling-we ran inside of the tackles on first down most of the day, and they were ready. Can't be 2nd and long against this d and be successful.

4. Adjustments-they played more zone on passing downs after the end of the first half. From our standpoint, well, you know
