Hubbard and next target

Taking Hubbard at his word, it seems that his selection of Iowa was due in part to tireless efforts by McCaffrey, a timely visit for the Cole-inspired upset of Purdue and some passionate hoops fans. The video of his press conference was pretty interesting, especially the loug applause when he put his hand over the Iowa hat....must have been a pro Iowa crowd.

With Hubbard in the fold, do we target a big, guard or best available? I'd love to think we have a shot at Gibson, but don't know where we stand with respect to other suitors. At this point I would like to see the staff pull the Olaseni offer and find somebody that wants to be a Hawk.

Does anyone know if Dillard crossed paths with Kyan Anderson in TX?

HawkPreek continues to act like Iowa is going to end up with another guard,so we will have to see how good his sources are.
Anderson is one of those ''sleeper'' possibilities in my book. Hard to connect him to anyone on the Iowa staff, tho. Dillard lived in Frisco, and his son played on the Mustangs, while Anderson played on the Heroes, two AAU clubs..so probably a shot in the dark, but never know.
I think that Fran is much less certain about getting a big..Olesani seems to be waffling, bigtime, and Gibson is a longshot.
I would prefer a big guy to a pg if I had to choose right now,but I do trust that Fran has a plan and we could always use another quick perimeter defender with, ballhandling, shooter. We do not have enough of any of that on this roster yet.
If we did pick up a pg,we would have a somewhat experienced pg in place for 2012 after Bryce is gone...that would be nice, even if we get Gesell on board.

Have to agree that a big is less likely than a guard. I just don't see McCaffrey going into this season with one senior PG knowing he will have to start over in 2012. Breaking a new PG in every other season is not a recipe for success, so it would make sense to add someone this season so we have some continuity. Much easier for a newcomer in 2012 to have someone to mentor them.
