Howe: Kaleb Brown Betting on Himself, Iowa

Calculated decision on his part. Can still be close to home in big time conference going to a place with an immediate need. Going to have an established Qb that knows what he's doing throwing it to him. Being able to not only play early but be a starter and be a major impactful part of what the team does is a huge thing. With OSU there's just no telling what his role woulda been had he stayed. So with the culture and everything else about Iowa that they could sell the fit was there. (NIL didn't hurt either)

Is it the right decision? Time will tell. Hindsight always is what it is. For Charlie Jones going to Iowa and walking on when he did was the right decision and then leaving and going to Purdue was obviously the right decision for him. I don't think Brown will get 50 touches this yr (possibly any yr). But definitely not this yr with the not 1 but 2 stud TEs that we have that'll deserve the touches they'll get. Nico will still get plenty as well. So if Brown gets between 40 and 50 touches this yr I'd bet Iowa is having a really good yr. Anything above that would be gravy.

With all the potential gambling scandals circulating in athletics, I would avoid using any statements saying an athlete bet on anything, including himself.
