Howe: Big Ten Football Power Rankings After Week 7

I don’t see how Michigan State is below is when they played great defenses and we played pretty good ones.

Pretty accurate: Thanks. Concur.

Iowa is drifting into the "Kirk-Middling" strata of the BigTen, historical, deserved, predictable...Wisconsin (gosh, how do they do it...leadership...high expectations?) has drifted (or charged) above Iowa, rightfully, hopefully Iowa won't begin to see the taillights of Minnesota and smell exhaust fumes this year and in the near future. They are in the rear-view mirror as we speak, and fast approaching.

Positives: Michigan State has been outclassed by the cream...Nebraska schooled by a Rodent. Good news...misery loves company. We aren't "that bad" yet. Or are we?

What changes will be made at Iowa to change the above reality, other than awe shucks, words, wishes, etc.?

They lost to Arizona State at home. They lost their B1G games by multiple scores whereas Iowa’s losses have been within a score.

The funny thing is if Minnesota had Iowa’s schedule they’d have 3 losses. Probably a couple by multiple scores.

Maybe. Maybe not. No way of knowing.

People were bashing Iowa's schedule in '15 and it came within a whisker of making the playoff.

I'm not buying Minnesota yet, but 6-0 is 6-0.

I have the feeling Minnesota will be highly motivated to show Iowa their "new program"...could be another Iowa State intensity game. Is Minnesota any good? Well, we will know soon enough.

MN believes in themselves and their program led by Rowboat bleeds confidence. While I dont' think they are a great team, they're taking care of business and have looked competent doing it.

When was the last time Iowa promoted any sort of confidence or excitement about their program? Never going to happen with Kirk in charge.

Just a few years ago people were pointing to this year as a "special" year, and yet expectations prior to first game was "8-4".

While MN team isn't going to be a favorite anytime soon, do you think Fleck (or any other coach) is going to temper expectations?

I think it looks about right. Not willing to say the season's over, but at the same time definitely willing to admit that we're no where near that top tier or next tier for that matter. I think we'll stay middle of the pack showing signs of life and winning a few games against middle of the pack teams while failing to do much of anything offensively against Wisconsin.

It will be an ugly November for Minnesota. 0-4 ugly. Also Iowa had wins at Wisconsin and at NW by the time they were 7-0. This schedule for MN so far is an embarrassment. They finish October with Rutgers and Maryland
