I just think that team is not athletic and/or strong enough. Iowa needs two more players. Hopefully that would come with a couple of extra roster spots for 2011. A true Power Forward and a PG would help this year.

I'm not sure how we'll be record-wise. Looking for improvement obviously, but that may not translate W/L. Tough loss w/ Fuller. We don't look to be a great shooting team, but hopefully we can get some easy looks in transition. Obvious X-factors are potential recruits and frosh we have coming in. Certainly it was Lick's style to play methodical (accentuated by a depleted roster?), but typically you don't increase tempo when you have inferior talent. That will be interesting to see how we do this. We NEED significant development from our returners, and I think we will see that. I found it strange that people thought that Cully can't get by people. He can. I think May really comes on this year. I think McCabe is going to surprise as I think he becomes our "typical" Iowa kid who hustles and gets boards (Street, Bowen, Settles). Very interested to see how our posts develop and what the rotation will look like. The thing I'm most excited about is that I feel we already have a plan and I hope that w/ good relationships, we won't have to re-invent our roster every year.

We will struggle next year....period. A transition year to begin with, and the loss of Fuller and Larson makes it even worse. I think we have to be willing to bite the bullet next year, in hopes that we can recruit better, faster players in 2011.

What is brutal is that we lost two guys that translate to Frans system well, in Fuller and Larson, and retain some big guys that do not....discouraging.

What is encouraging is that we will have 3 schollies to play with for the next year (Tucker, Cole, Fuller). This means we could bring in Chasson, Devin Coleman, and maybe Uthoff. Who knows what else Fran has his eye on out there. Personally I would like to fill one more spot on that roster shown with Wilkins and then have 2 schollies to work with next year and pray we get Chasson, and it seems likely we can get Coleman.

That team really lacks ball-handling. If you look at the players McCaffery is recruiting they are guys that can get to the rim. Even the bigs like Wilkins and Eric Katenda (sp?) supposedly can handle it some. We need guys that can put pressure on their man with the bounce.

We really only have 1 guys who has above-average Big 10 handles for his position and that is Payne. May and Gatens are both better playing off the ball. Marble seems like a guy who likes to pay off the bounce. And all our bigs are missing at least one of: skill, size, or athleticism (not good).

Not really sure what to think about Brust. He seems like a player better suited for a rigid system or motion offense, where he gets to run of screens and get shots in the flow of the offense. I'm not sure how his skills translate to a more free-flow offense that puts a premium on dribble penetration.
