How will we do in the dance?

I know we have struggled as of late but how do you think we will do in the big dance? Knowing that it is hard in conference play no matter who you are with every team studying film day in and day out! God knows the BIG knows how to play us, but what about the rest of the field in the big dance. I like our chances with teams we haven't faced yet for the first two rounds. What does everyone else think?

I look at the Kansas and WV game today and see how it is always hard to win in conference. This doesn't mean we don't still have potential to go far in the dance.

I tend to agree with seepig. If Iowa remembers how to play some defense again, then they could make a run. Otherwise, 1 win tops.

Not that I'm going to try to compare the NIT to the NCAA Tournament, but we were not playing the best at the end of the season last year when we needed wins to make the dance, but look what we did in the NIT. It is a new season and what you did prior to that point does not matter only what you do at that moment and look what we did. We played some good teams and beat them. My question is are worse off now than we were last year?

Jon had an interesting note in his article following Thursday's game. Basically had to do with Iowa's up & down style not fitting well in the B1G which is very physical and is allowed to be by the refs. So maybe if Iowa gets matched up with teams that are not as physical or games are called tighter when the B1G's ref crews are no longer involved, that could favor Iowa a bit.

But to answer the direct question. At this point I haven't seen evidence that Iowa has addressed the defensive issues. Until I do, if I had to bet, I'd say they lose their first game.

National Champions, getting away from big 10 refs almost got them a post season championship last year. This year I saw all the way.

Actually, Iowa had won 3 out of 4 going into the BTT, and 6 out of 8 overall. One of those two losses was the blown game @Nebby and the other one was on the road against #1 Indiana. I'd say Iowa was probably playing about as well down the stretch as it had all season.

Personally, I think once they get into the tournament, the first round or two, the competition will feel like a step down from what they've faced all year.

Recent history suggests a double left-footed twerk, but I'm hoping for a Fred Astaire like performance.

currently 2-8 against the top 25, not sure how that translates, I dunno, win the first game, lose on the weekend.

It really depends on Fran.. Key is him finding the patience to stick with the players and the lineups that can get it done for us. 8 Player rotation with spot minutes for a couple others. IMO if Fran does work a solid 8-man rotation Iowa can get to Elite 8.

How a deep run happens.

How will we do in the dance? Most likely Fran changes nothing and he sticks to same player rotations we've seen all year. As a result I think Iowa can get past 1st round (That however won't be easy) and exits in the 2nd Round. Fran has no patience and gets frustrated far to easily with players and when the going gets tough he answers with lineups that make you go WTF is that. :(

The way they are playing now they are more likely to play themselves out of the tournament than win their first game. But should they get in, the way this team lacks toughness and confidence I will say they lose the first game so none and done.

If we lose to a 10 seed on a neutral floor it will be our worst loss of the year. Of course it can happen because upsets happen all the time but I bet we will be at least 7 point favorites.

There is no need for these comments anymore- IOWA IS A LOCK!

All things equal:
#6 = 1-1 (90%); #7 = 0-1 / 1-1 (50%); #8 = 0-1 (100%).

However, if Palm's current bracket holds true NCAA College Basketball Tournament Bracket Predictions - CBSSports.com
I, surprisingly would go W over SMU (100%), W over Syracuse (50%), W over SDSU / UCLA (wouldn't that be awesome!) (50%)
That's about the most favorable matchup I could imagine for Iowa, especially if they drop to #7. What I once considered a terrifying mismatch in Syracuse is less daunting, as I see Oglesby being able to bust them up and Gabe / Basabe (not Woody) being able to attack Orange down low.

Mr. Obvious says it's all about the opponent and the region but, right now I think the most likely result is to lose in round of 32.
