How munch longer will Crean get?

I know he inherited a total mess and has some solid recruits, but he's currently 26-56 in at Indiana, and 6-37 in the Big Ten. If he doesn't start to win next season, is he going to be fired? Indiana as we all know has a rich basketball tradition and they have fallen on hard times for sure. I know it's not Crean's fault, but how long will he get?

you dont walk away from a coach like Crean and three committed 5-star recruits unless you have risen Coach Wooden from the ashes.

Bah, I'd bring Bob Knight back.

But yeah Crean has history of success, but he still has to show something next season. As great as Indiana fans are they got to be getting impatient. Must suck to be a basketball school and still be preforming poorly at both major mens sports.

If there isn't a marked improvement in Bloomington after next season, I have a hard time seeing them keeping Crean around.

He's got next year for sure. Like I said in a different discussion, this is basically his second year. He didn't inherit a roster. He had to build a team in April just to field a team in his first year. Having his most talented recruit injured the last two years certainly hasn't helped.

I think they probably expected to be a little better next year but landing Zeller along with the other 5 stars he has coming in 2012 has earned him some trust. If they're still at the bottom of the league next year, then they'll have to make a decision. I would guess he gets two more years though because they won't want to risk losing the 2012 class and starting over again.

I agree with this.

And if Wooden wants to land some 5-star recruit he better be bringing Sam Gilbert back from the dead with him. (Not actually sure if Gilbert is actually dead or not.)

He'll get at least through 2013, and I have a hard time seeing them not being competitive by then. He basically started a team from nothing when he got there, the talent is coming.

He walked into a program that wasn't in the basement, it was in the floor drain in the basement. He'll get at least 5 years.

Indiana hiring Sampson is one of the oddest coaching hires of all time and they will be paying the piper for that for a while yet.

The way Crean coaches the end of games makes me wonder if he has some clause in his contract that gives him a bonus for holding final margins under 20 points.

Seriously, just let everybody go home. The last two minutes of that game felt like three hours... although, to give Crean credit, it was down to a five-possession game with thirty seconds to go. Awesome.

He gets next year, but I expect he will have to turn the corner some next year. One thing that might work against him is that he will have built an attractive team for a big shot that might be available.

Take Cartwright and Basabe out of our lineup and that is what Crean is dealing with after Creek and Jones got hurt. He has some blue chippers coming in next season as others have mentioned, so look for them to make a big jump. The big ten will not be as brutal next year after Purdue and OSU lose their NBA players.

I read somewhere he is signed through 2018. If true, that's a big chunk of change to shell out if they want to fire him any time soon. I think that combined with the ridiculously good recruiting classes he has coming in the near future will buy him some time.

No, take Payne and Fuller out of our lineup. We are pretty much in the same boat the Hoosiers are already.
