How much does last year loss bother Ferentz

Already heard Brown mention it on Hawk Central , maybe he can use this to motivate the team more than thinking about 12-0 record.

Anyone think for practice this week our taller receivers like Hillyer just keep running post or flags with the QB rotation lobbying up Tommy bombs? get the secondary ready.

I think this game motivates KF like no other on the schedule this season. However he had to keep it under wraps until the season unfolded to now. That comment that stupid Nebby AD made after last year's game peed KF off.

Last year's game was painful for our team. We felt we had put ourselves in a position to win that game. Then we took our foot off the gas and stopped playing good fundamental football. I am confident that if our guys play good focused fundamental football, we will put ourselves in a position to win. I sure would love for our kids to add another trophy to the case.

It sure as hell has bothered me all year, one of the most disappointing games in memory, so I'm guessing Ferentz didn't like it either.

2. In a news conference Sunday to discuss the firing of Bo Pelini as Nebraska’s football coach, athletics director Shawn Eichorst said the Cornhuskers’ rally from a 24-7 deficit to win in overtime at Iowa on Friday played on a small role in his decision.
He also said he didn’t consider the Iowa program to be on the same level with the program he heads.
“Our kids showed great character and resiliency in a tough environment,’’ Eichorst said. “So, it did play a factor, but in the final analysis I had to evaluate where Iowa was.’’
Eichorst said he attempted to determine who the championship-caliber football teams were that Nebraska played and he concluded that Iowa wasn’t among them.
“I have a great respect for Iowa,’’Eichorst said when asked further about the Hawkeye comparison. “It’s a wonderful institution and a wonderful football program. But in the final analysis, their record was where it was our record was where it was. Fair enough?’’

This is a RED letter date for the good captain. He is proud and to be told by Eichorst who is a fre#&ing idiot that Nebraska is above being compared to Iowa is too much for him to take. The key this year is they made these comments with some new young blood on the staff...namely Brian. Between Brian and Doyle this team has this game firmly planted in their mind. I look for the hawks to play a super emotional game for their coach. I also predict Kirk has a total emotional breakdown after we kick Nebraska's arse.

You mean KF went from saying that's football! to that sucks? IMO, there have been two other underlying goals just as important to KF which have helped to make the change in his coaching style:
(1) he wanted to keep his job
(1A) so he could pass it onto Brian, er, I mean so it could be passed onto Brian.

(2) he realized he'd have to let Brian make decisions on his own so Brian could become an adequate head coach. KF couldn't just let one of his coaches (Brian) make decisions on his own. That would create dissension among the coaches.

I'm just happy it finally happened. That KF gave other coaches responsibility. Maybe KF can create a 'coaching tree' like Hayden? Instead of a bunch of yes men?

It sure bothered me. After that loss I burned down my house, killed my neighbor's dog and bought a Nickelback album. Of course then I was committed but at least there's free wifi here.

It sure bothered me as well. If this team has no motivation for this game, they need to quit football altogether and not even show up for the B1G championship and beyond. I got a feeling we're going to see a complete game played by the Hawks and this game will only be close in the 1st half. Go Hawks!!! 12-0!!

I hope that this is the first game we see the "new Kirk" and that they take the lead and don't EVER let their foot off the gas. Curb stomp these bugeaters!

Nickelback? Boy, that loss really did bother you.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the coaches all had this game circled on their calendars, if not literally then mentally.

I want to see the Iowa defense come out and stick it too Nebraska.

I think we got a little tight against Purdue when they came back in that first half / third quarter. I'm sure there was some pressure to wrap up the B10 Championship game and West Title. In this game, I don't expect Iowa to be tight at all. I think we release the hounds and we play to win and damn everything else. We won't be the tight team.

This is an opportunity to show a national audience why we are undefeated...and send a little message to Nebraska. Rape players playing or not, doesn't matter. KF will have them focused and sharp on the short week. If we have learned anything about CJ to this point, he shines in the spotlight. Well, the spotlight keeps getting brighter starting on Friday. I like our chances.

"Tommy bombs"..... That's awesome!

This could be the best example I have ever seen of speculation based on absolutely nothing.

The only thing I want this team thinking about is perfect execution of the current play. I want their minds to be on nothing else. NOTHING.

Focus, poise and confidence. That is how you win football games.

Your focus determines your reality. Focus on your task, not on a statement some pissant AD popped off a year ago.

I think most of my post is pretty factual. That KF wants Brian to be the next head coach at Iowa? That KF wants Brian to be the best head coach he can be? That KF didn't allow his coaches to make decisions without his input/veto power? That KF thought he had expertise in every area of football which has been proven incorrect? That the ISU loss last season didn't bother KF but the Nebby one did? That KF thought, with a lack of season ticket sales as an indicator, there might be a chance the AD might consider replacing him before his contract ran out? Which of these statements are wrong, Huck?

I'll save Huck the trouble: probably ALL of them.
