We have more than enough left with all the defections, and the large senior class, but we can still only sign 25. I'm not sure how the over signing rule works in the B10, but I don't see KF as a sign 30 guys kind of coach.

Its been quoted on the message boards that B10 rule is 27max with a team total of 85.
I'd like to think with the quality kids KF is inon at this juncture that he would sign the max if he can get them.

Counting the current commits we have ... that would bring our scholarship count to 76 guys on scholarship. And, mind you, that doesn't count any Iowa players who were FORMER walk-ons. I'm currently ignorant concerning walk-ons who have earned a 'ship.

In the above count, I'm now considering Ferguson as "gone." However, I'm still counting Donavan Johnson as "on board." If Donavan Johnson can't get is grades up (as possibly rumored) ... then the implication is that the number of DEFINITE 'ships accounted for goes down to 75.

Thus, that would suggest that we'd definitely be in a position to sign 6 more guys in the 2011 recruiting class ... that is, if the coaches decide not to bank any "extra" 'ships.

I'm still curious about how many walk-ons are already on 'ship or who are slated to receive one.

Also, it's important to note that there seems to be plenty of talent out there for the 2012 class ... and Iowa will NOT have a very big SR class. Thus, I could definitely see the coaches not being in a hurry to fill spots just for the sake of filling a spot. As always, the Iowa coaches are pretty deliberate.

The Big Ten allows schools to oversign by three players, but even that rule is drastically different from the NCAA rule now in effect. Schools are allowed three over the 85-man limit, not the annual 25-man limit. If, for example, Iowa ends a season with 20 open scholarship spots, then the Hawks may sign 23 players. No more.

If a Big Ten program chooses to oversign, it then must document exactly how it came under the 85-scholarship limit.
