How many people on here...

... were legitimately going to go to the bowl game if it were in Nashville or somewhere with better December weather? I'm just wondering because there are a ton of people that are disappointed with the Pinstripe Bowl. Considering the weather in NYC, I understand. But lets say this was a more prestigious bowl and Iowa finished something like 9-3 instead of 7-5, would there be more interest in going to NYC? I've never been to NYC so it does hold a certain level of attraction to me as a destination. I'd consider going if I didn't have other things going on. Are more people disappointed about the destination or are they just disappointed in the season.

We were interested in Nashville cause we'll be driving up to Iowa from Dallas and were hoping to make a detour to Nashville on the way home.

Already had a hotel reservation made, was looking forward to going to Nashville... if nothing else to send the seniors off with a (hopefully) long eluded bowl win. Absolutely no desire/extra money to take family to NYC ('sides Chuck says we spend too much money on women, booze and motion pictures as it is)

I will be rooting like hell from my shanty for JJ to show the nation he deserved the Buttkiss Award, and praying the offense doesn't have another no-show performance.

I have a family of 5 and tickets to the Music City Bowl were as low as $16 each, a 3 star hotel for $80 per night, and an 8 hour drive. So we would have went to the Music City Bowl, I already had reservations. The Pinstripe Bowl is 3x the cost and double the drive (no way would I pay for airline tixs).

To be fair I wouldn't have gone to the Holiday Bowl either for the same reasons listed above, I'll do those bowl games when I'm retired and it's just my wife and I.

This is one of the all time great posts, period. I will add Chuck is the real hick.

I have been a season ticket holder since 1999. Despite that, I have only made plans to go to two Hawkeye bowl games. The 2002 Rose Bowl, and the 2017 Music City Bowl.

I was thinking of going to the Music City Bowl just because it was driveable. This team is so wildly unpredictable, great to watch then head scratchingly hard to watch.

Group of 10 of us were in for Nashville. Now 0 for NYC
Iowa has this reputation of traveling well for a bowl game which only enhances the bowl Iowa goes to. Traveling well means sitting in the stands and spending money with local bowl vendors. Well, if you don't want Iowa to leapfrog over that team with a better record than Iowa's, stay home. Iowa will definitely see a lot of Pinstripe Bowls in the future, I'm guessing, if they cease to travel well and if the expectations of the fan base stay at what they are now.

I have more than enough money to attend every bowl game...although I have never been to one. In the end...it isn't money well spent for us, when the game is broadcast.

I would try to attend a game if Iowa gets into the final four playoffs...but wouldn't if it was to be held in New York, Detroit, East St. Louis, or Iraq.

Nashville has appeal for a septic level bowl...but, as noted...Iowa's coaching staff paved the road to the RoadStripe during the season of no shows.

Above the RoadStripe Bowl is a bigger frustration that this season has been one of wasted opportunities...created by a low level coaching staff...unprepared, lethargic teams as a sign of incompetent coaching.

My two cents...

A traveling fanbase can be a good very minor economic bump for some cities. NYC has 9 million people, we could bring 100k and it wouldn’t be felt and nobody there gives a rip about college football.

And Iowa's reputation of traveling well to bowl games will go in the dumper. Wha? A fan base who accepts mediocrity from its football team won't accept mediocrity for a bowl? The ONLY way to be able not to accept mediocrity from a bowl game while having a mediocre team is if the fan base travels well.

A traveling fanbase doesn't mean as much as it used to. Now with the CFP, the conferences have more of a say in who goes where. If the Music City bowl wanted people to attend, they wouldn't have invited NW.

We were talking about Nashville and looking for accommodations. We also have friends in the area. We were probably 75% there.

If we're spending the coin to visit NYC, a day spent on a football game won't be on our agenda.

I would like to add San Francisco to your list. Thanks

In the last 5 bowls we're 0-5 and have an average margin of defeat of around 24 points. Until Iowa starts showing up for these games I can think of a lot better trips, and ways to spend a couple grand than going to a bowl game.
