How Many More Wins?

I predicted 17 wins for the season at the beginning of the year.

We are at 9 right now.

How many more will we win?

I can see about 10 more games I would consider winnable.

2x: Northwestern, Penn State, Minnesota, Nebraska

1x: Purdue, Wisconsin

By no means do I think we win all of these games. But it's not unthinkable for the Hawks to win any of them. I'll say 6-7 more wins, and then maybe another wild upset out of nowhere.

I think 16 or 17 might be possible now after the Wisco win. I had Iowa at 13 tops before the game.

Possible wins
Nebraska at home
Minny at home
Penn St at home
at Northwestern.
at Penn St
Wisco at home
Nebraska away
Northwestern at home

I still think it will be awhile before we see another win (not until the Nebraska game), but if Iowa plays like they did yesterday and the other team is cold, Iowa will have a chance.

As strange as it may appear, I think our season hinges on how Cartwright plays. He gives us another guy who can score, distribute and push tempo. Marble struggled a bit today and without Cartwright to pick up the slack, we don't win, despite WI's cold shooting. I am sticking with 15, but hope I am wrong.

Lots more winnable games but I would guess something like 4-5 more wins. Don't think 8 conference wins is reasonable.

This is a very tough league. Not too many teams are gonna go 3-28 behind the arc against Iowa. I will go with 3-4 more wins.

I think 15 wins would be a great year at this point. That would mean we had 7 wins in a very tough conference. The team is still a work in process, but if Cartwight continues to round back into last seasons form, we will be competitive in most of our games.

A lot of people I think predicted around 15-18 win range and now we know that is possible. We would need to go. 500 to get in that range and the underside of the B1G

we need to end up with 8 total wins in the BT to guantee a .500 record
but lets worry about Minnesaota 1 game at a time

I would say I am expecting around 18 more wins this season.

Excluding BIG and NCAA tourney runs.

Guess I'll go with maybe another half dozen wins (6) and we end up around 15 wins going into the BTT, with a 7-11 conference record.

I looked at the remaining schedule again and still don't think we'll win many in the upcoming part of the schedule.. MAYBE Minnesota, and MAYBE Michigan at home.. But after that, I think most of the games on the schedule are winnable. We won't win all of those winnable games of course, but I look for Fran's trend to continue where his 2nd year at a school sees more wins than his first. Only 2 more to tie last year's mark of 11.

Cartwright was huge. If he keeps playing like this, we are a very difficult team to beat. If he disappears again, I'm not so sure

Really trying to judge how good this Iowa team is.

What was Wisconsin's best win to this point? Are they for real?

I know Purdue is down this year, but I thought this was supposed to be a great Wisconsin team.

Lots of truth to the point that most teams won't go 3-30 from beyond the arc.

so Iowa is not improving on D and had absolutely nothing to do with the missed 3's
its funny how many times i saw posted on here that "if" Iowa would have made a couple more 3's we would have won
most of the 3 attempts i saw were taken 2-4 feet behind the line
close to NBA range
the D was actually better last night and if teams want to put up NBA 3's all night let them, everybody saw the results of that
Iowa was 2 of 6 not many shots taken, inside scoring won the game
plus Basabe showed some good range on making a few 17-18 footers
that was the biggest thing missing from Basabe's game
to many people are hung up on making 3's, when you live by the 3 you end up dying by the 3
its great when you make but it sucks when you miss

Nobody expected Iowa to be 1-1 right now in the conference. They could easily be 2-0 and some of us would be saying they got a shot to win the conference. I don't think this team is as bad as some think. I think a .500 conference record is a good goal for this team and it would be a huge improvement over last year. We will see how it shakes out?

I will go with my original prediction of 17 until proven wrong. I had them beating Clemson and Campbell, but didn't have them winning at Madison, so I am only down one.
