Turner probably can't improve his standing in the draft by coming back because he's knocking on the door of national POTY this year. I'd be surprised if he doesn't leave. On the other hand, if he really wants to have a shot at a national title, he could take out a big insurance policy and stick around to play with Jared Sullinger for a year.
Purdue's situation is interesting. None of their big three are locks for NBA stardom, or perhaps even to stick with the NBA though I'd bet on at least two of the three to make it. I don't know how they're rated in the draft projections because I have no interest in the NBA but all three may be borderline enough, or grounded enough, to stick around.
No one would have projected McCamey into this position before the season but he has an NBA body already and probably projects to be drafted if he wants to come out. Just a wild guess but I think he'll stay around hoping that with incoming recruits and improvement from current players Illinois could be much better next season.
Talor Battle looks like a good NBA prospect to me and this season must be wearing him out, being the focus of all opposing defenses and having to carry the load all alone. Unless Penn State has some major help on the way, the prospect of getting paid for the abuse might be appealing to Battle, but that depends on what the NBA scouts think of him.
I don't think that much of Manny Harris but that may be clouded by the fact that Michigan owns us and we can't beat them even when the likes of Penn State can pull off a win at Crisler. Every year a lot of underclassmen make stupid decisions to go pro. Might Manny be the next?
Since I'm not an NBA fan, the only relevance any of this has to me is how it might affect competition in the Big Ten next season. Ohio State would still be talented if Turner leaves but how many times has he almost single-handedly been responsible for their wins over Iowa and other teams? His departure would matter.
Purdue would miss any of their big three, and if two or more of them left they should really come back to the pack.
MSU without Lucas would not be as good as with him but they would reload and still be at or near the top.
I don't know that Illinois would be that much different without McCamey. They have very talented young guards and incoming recruits. The sophs might carry them just fine in the backcourt if he goes. But I suspect he'll stay.
If Battle were to leave Penn State would spend another year near the bottom of the standings.
If Harris were to leave Michigan we might be able to win one against them next season, unless the schedule doesn't give us a home game.
