What is the step by step process of contacting coaches?

Let's say it is Bruce Pearl:

Does Barta start with phone call to agent?
Does Barta start with call to Pearl?
If agent says not intersted(maybe they never say they are?) does Barta call coach personally?
Does Barta fly down and talk in person?
I realize that schools have to give permission, but lets face it, if it gets to that point the deal is already done.

Just wondering on if anybody knew what really goes down?

He's hired a search firm, I believe. Search firms do the contacting, etc. Several reasons legal and otherwise schools do this now.

The executive search consultant handles the communication until it is pretty much a done deal. This keeps the information out of the public domain. Otherwise, as a state employee, Barta's correspondence would be public record. That could be bad PR for all parties involved.
