how do you not ride Jok's hot hand into the second half?

Yeah, Wisconsin played better D against PJ the second half, but my gosh Fran find a way to get him the rock. Smells of another late season collapse for a FM coached Iowa team.

The answer to your question.

The substitutions are becoming a problem again as well. Lineups are different every 4 minutes. It's almost like he just subs to sub. Nobody can get in any rhythm. 5 minutes in Brady Ellingson was in the game. Why????

Jok was 1 of 6 in the second half, so actually worse than the overall team percent. The big sub early is always when they put Gesell and Woody on the bench five minutes in. We always have the lead early, 8-0 at PSU and 9-6 last night, and by the time they are back in, we are losing or the margin is a bucket. Has happened routinely this year. Part of that is Jok and Clemmons together in the backcourt is a recipe for turnovers every time. Not sure it's so much that they don't play defense, we just go sometimes three possessions at a time with maybe one forced shot attempt, so they catch up by default. Then we bring Mike and Woody back in with the three reserves, so our best shot is Mike having to force something himself since the only other option is an out of control Uhl. So then we've given away 8 minutes and two TV timeouts with hopefully playing even. We've had success this year with Uthoff on the bench for stretches (MSU and Maryland off hand), but last night wasn't one of those nights unfortunately.

Get used to it. Minnesota gave teams the blueprint, and Penn St. and Wisconsin followed it. To beat Iowa, all you need to do is get really physical with them.

Yea it just sucks you have to "get used to" the refs allowing that kind of play. And it's not like Minnesota let the cat out of the bag that it's harder to score if you mug them.

Probably cause he doesn't miss in practice and Fran is looking for a spark from someone from the bench.
