How do the Hawks get ABOVE 500??

Ought to be favored pretty decent against mediocre at best Minnesota and Purdue teams. Where do we get a 7th and 8th win, what are the best opportunities? Would love for one of them to be OSU, but man do some things have to improve to get that one.

@NW win 5-2
MINN - win. 6-2
OSU - Loss. 6-3
@Wisc - Loss 6-4
Purdue - Win 7-4
@Neb - win 8-4
@ Holiday Bowl - Loss 8-5

Final record 8-5

I know Nebby isn't very good, but I don't see us beating them. Illinois started 11 true freshman, and we struggled mightily until after Snyders interception. That Illinois team is very bad. We might get 7-5, then another bowl loss.

Minnesota, Purdue, Northwestern and Nebraska can all beat Iowa. I say we go 2-2 against those and lose to OSU and Wisconsin. 6-6 or possibly 7-5.

That's assuming we play the same way every week that we did this week. That doesn't happen in college football.

GO away. We won the game. Hawks have played better than that this year. What happens in one game means nothing two weeks from now. We have lost 2 games by a combined 9 points. They will be competitive In every game. Lot of season left and we get Butler back to take some pressure off Akrum.

I can see this . I can see a scenario where they split Wisc/Osu and they split purdue/Nebby

yhr game chsnged when Epstein went down not long prior.

Is your autospell a little off calibration or having a tough typing day or celebrating with a little happy juice after the game. Just kidding. I figured out what you meant and Epstein did hurt the hawks in the first half but I also think it was a function of poor tackling and gap control and not being ready for Illinois' offensive line play. I thought our front 7 were just not ready in the first half but they got much better.

You really stay with things, I'll give ya that. Epstein had a very good game and was very effective, but he wasn't Barkley out there. 7 carries for 85 yards, 11.1 ypc...very impressive, but 58 was on 1 carry with a busted assignment. He also had a 9 yard run and a 7 yard run. But in 2.5 quarters he carried the ball 7 times....he wasn't going to kill us.

He's a good back, especially for a freshman, but him going down was not massively significant.

The Pick 6 was the game changer. That, and Iowa not turning the ball over.

At that point the became 1 dimensional. He's all they got.

I would say MN is on par with IL and is not a game Iowa should lose. They're bad. Purdue is a little scary. I'd take a split on roadies with Nebster and NU.

they get above the very definition of average by playing above average on both sides of the ball and that starts with line play.

Iowa's end containment was bad in the first half. Epstein wasn't keeping Illannoy in the game. Iowa's D-line was.

No pressure.
Poor containment.
