How did officials get by before TV

good god... do we have to stop and look at the TV monitor on every damn play in the last two minutes? It's killing the flow of the game.

Watching the Wisconsin game, I started to wonder if we were going to see a repeat of the 1972 US/USSR Olympic Gold medal game. At some point, we have to realize officials STILL suck and just let it go as "human nature", even when they suck absurdly against certain teams and coaches on a consistent basis.

Totally agree. Let the refs make the call on the floor and let the game play on. Such BS with all these TV replays.

Before they worry about about whether Bubba's elbow was flagrant or not by staring at a TV monitor for 5 minutes, lets focus on officiating consistency.

All kinds of contact is allowed in the first half of the game, but the closer we get to the end, the tighter the contact is called. It's ridiculous. When it's under a minute to go any touch gets called a foul in the back court when it was completely ignored for 39 minutes.

Refs suck.

Touch fouls in the last minute? Not in Iowa's favor. I don't remember the last time Iowa shot free throws in the last minute other than an intentional foul.

i was referring specifically to the tourney, but in Iowa's favor? No. Not that I can think of.

Man i was thinking the same thing. I wish they would have never put replay in basketball. I hope it doesn't get as bad as football. Remember last yr when CJ caught that pass in the Nebraska gm and they had to watch replay on a catch that could be seen from the nose bleed section

I agree, this has gotten beyond ridiculous.

Checking for game clock on time out or made basket to put .4 seconds back is ridiculous. In the old days refs were told to figure about a second off the clock from whistle to clock stoppage.

Teams are getting free time outs from these which takes longer to get the game started. Put the players within the opponents "jump ball" circle during these referee tv exposures.

And stop wasting time having one ref tell TV announcers what's happening.

Soon, we'll see a bunch of 2 hour, 45 minute games.
Yep.

And then the NCAA/TV will start complaining about how long the games are and will want to change rules to make the game go quicker . . . i.e. 30 second clock. Which of course, that won't make the game go quicker.

i personally would like to see the shot clock down to 25 or 30. No reason college men's should be higher than college women's and over 10 second difference from the NBA
