How can Moutain West be best Conf?

Can someone tell me how people like Seth Davis and Charles Barkley say that the mountain west is the elite conference in the nation? MWC has one team rated in the top 25, and who really has New Mexico played that is tough besides UNLV and San Diego State, otherwise the other teams are not that good.

Seth Davis loves Steve Alford and Charles Barkley hasn't watched more than 5 college basketball games all season long. When he said the Big Ten was overrated because it doesn't have great players like the Pac 10 or Mountain West, I would have bet all the money in the world he couldn't name 5 players from either conference.
