How can anyone be surprised by this loss?

These are the games we don't win. A classic loss for us. We're playing a **** team but a **** team that still has enough ability to keep games close so you know we won't be able to put them away. We have won a couple of games and now have a seemingly winnable game that we should win on paper. And it is on the road. These are the classic types of games that we lose. Anyone who acts surprised by this hasn't been paying attention to the inconsistency of this group.

Yep. I thought it would be a close loss. This team is too inconsistent in half court, and if they don't get to the line a lot they will have droughts.

weeelll.... when up by 16 at half against a crap team... kind of is surprising to lose.

It was how we lost that was the suprise

I certainly am not...

I definitely had this one circled as a trap game. But when you jump out to a 16-point lead at half, and led by as much as 19, you don't expect to lose. Period.

That's what we were thinking.

We most likely won't win another road game this year, coaching is just stinky and we have nobody who can create off dribble besides Marble and he turns the ball over in every big spot at the end of games.

I expected a loss here. This is not a good road team. Why do desperation 3's ALWAYS go in vs this team?

I wasn't overly comfortable when Iowa was up 19. I was happy with how they were playing, but leads are not safe with this Iowa team.

Marble was on Talley and he could not get anything in that last possession. Nebby called a TO with 11 seconds on the shot clock. When they came out of the TO Gessell was back on him and the got that shot off. Not sure why Fran didn't stick with Marble. Talley could not miss otherwise?

Not surprising. This team has been up and down all year. I expected as much going into the season. Still a lot of inexperience on the floor much of the time. Most rebuilding programs go through similar periods of inconsistency. I think we're on the tail end of rebuilding, but the work isn't finished. I've believed from the start and still do that next year is the year that sees us get over the hump and return to The Dance.

At least Iowa is now in these games. Next year they will learn how to win them.

Good thing it is a down year in the draft we need some turnover in the conference.

The reason we lost? Easy. We quit doing what we did to get the lead. We quit pushing the ball down the floor, quit fast breaking. When we push the ball, we get easy baskets; either wide open jump shots or layups or easy baskets with mismatches. Going with the fast break, we get the rebound and get the outlet pass up the floor quickly. Later in the games, we slow down. We don't outlet the ball until all of the traffic is past the outlet pass receiver. We trot or walk the ball down the floor and we go into sets. And as others have said, only Marble can create his own shot; but he needs to spend a lot more time in the weight room to become the reliable go-to-guy. He doesn't have the strength to take the physicality of the game in the latter minutes when the refs seem to swallow their whistles.

Hard to run a fast break if the other team is making every shot... Granted, that's the fault of our defensive but I don't remember many missed fast break chances as I don't remember many misses by Nebraska in the second half.
