How are the new rules supposed to improve the game?

I get that the idea is that it's supposed to allow more drives to the bucket and more points, but now the charge call has all be been removed from the game.

That's one of the worst things to see a guy establish position near the hoop, and see the offensive guy barrel through him and not get whistled.

There's still charging calls. We have had a couple go our way this season. They are much fewer that before, but you will still see some.

They are designed to increase scoring, but I am not sure at this point anyone can legitimately say that is what is going on.

The problem that I have and always have had is that officials don't call the rulebook and each crew is different.

Here has been my issues so far this season: How can you call all the touch fouls, but let all the body contact go in the lane? Not all crews do this, but tonight was an example of how the officials still don't know what they are calling.

It is too inconsistent at this point, but why would anyone expect anything else, officiating has been poor for the better part of the last decade. It is a travesty to try and change rules to aid in the deficiencies of the officials. What makes it worse is that now it is making the officials the focal point of the game. Then adding to that, they officials are affecting the flow of the game and at critical points the ending of a game.

Just call the game as intended and rule changes like this wouldn't need to happen.

Like the TV announcers said tonight....it's going to drive the college game to a near-100% zone environment.
