My optimisic and hopeful guess of next year's starters (assuming a few key guys choose to return)
Offense:
QB: Stanzi
RB: Hampton (Backed up by A-Rob and Brinson with Wegher being molded into a slot receiver similar to Tim Dwight)
FB: Morse
WR1: DJK
WR2: McNutt
TE: Reisner
LT: Bulaga (Biggest if to return)
LG: Richardson (Another if to return, but I am being hopeful)
C: Ferentz
RG: Vandervelde
RT: Reiff
I think at least 7 of these guys (Stanzi, Hampton, DJK, McNutt, Bulaga, Richardson, Reiff) has a legitimate shot at some type of All Big 10 team - I think the group would be considered one of the 2 best offenses in the Big 10.
K: Murray/Mossbrucker
Defense:
DE: Clayborn
DT: Ballard
DT: Klug
DE: Binns
As Jon has mentioned, I think the returning Defensine Line could be considered the best DL in the country next year
LB: Troy Johnson
LB: Hunter
LB: Tarpinian
DB: Bernstine (I think Spievey will go to the NFL)
S: Greenwood
S: Sash
DB: Prater
P: Donahue
Awesome defense returning with a chance that some of the incoming true freshman LB could be pushing for some playing time too.
If all of the guys listed above do return, I think most of the preseason pubs will have Iowa as a preseason top 15 team with a few mags even predicting top 10 team.
Exciting stuff - Hopefully the Hawks can win the Orange Bowl and really get fans pumped for what could be another magical year of Hawkeye football!!
