Hope ARob news doesn't help announcers paint IA in a poor light...

I hate it when they have ammo to make stupid comments about Kirk's off the field problems. Our guys don't party anymore than anybody else. They just have bad luck with the cops.

They're not stupid comments when they are true. Our team looks like a bunch of druggies. Top two players arrested for drug charges less than a month apart. All they have to do is mention the facts. We look like a team of thugs.

In a poor light? lol, I think it's the lighting up that is getting them in trouble.

You gotta thicken up when it comes to Iowa. Most of the country -- including most national media types -- are somewhere between very uninformed to ignorant to blatant morons regarding Iowa. Right out of the gate this is flyover with nothing but corn, pigs and potatoes (unbelievable how geographically and demographically stupid so many people are out there). When it comes to football, Iowa is nothing more than a 2nd tier upstart.

These are 2 indisputable stereotypes / predisposed thoughts. Unfortunately, these same thoughts tend to amplify every positive or negative. The positive is looked upon with a "feel-good" angle because little ol' Iowa is "overachieving". The negative is looked upon with jaw-dropping shock because how could something so dark like drugs / dealing actually occur in "wholesome, sheltered" Iowa.

It's just how it is when anywhere beyond the border states is a perception that all-things Iowa are basically "middle of the road" or "average".

I'm a born & bred native and absolutely LOVE this state, so, none of this is a slam. It's just observation and experience. I usually don't get too offended and waste very little time trying to educate or convince others otherwise -- it's just too much work to challenge such idiocy.

I'll be at a loud bar watching the game. I won't here it if they do say something.

No, but I would guess you will see pictures of DJK and Arob on the giant screen with the dates arrested and the charges below their photos. Or maybe they will break out the entire rap sheet of the team during the KF era.
The only way to draw attention away from it is to beat the crap out of the Tigers tonight! That should give them something else to talk about.

Why wouldn't the announcers talk about it?

That's all we're talking about.
