Honest Question Because I Don’t Know The Answer…

A 6-2 record is still good for 20-25....but this is not a Top 25 team at the moment....and soon may not be for the rest of the year.

I'm gonna guess 22. #1 in my heart, unranked in my head.

Then we maybe get to #20 if they don't get "Fitzed".

But they're gonna get beat by minny and nebby, and that is gonna suck.

Damn.

I haven't felt this bleak about Iowa football in a very long time. This combo of oline, playcalling, and QB play, along with turnovers.... I have almost no confidence

If we win out or suffer only one loss

The season will exceed everyone's expectations before the first kickoff
of the season

At least we had a touch of glory

Reaching #2, no matter show brief was an accomplishment

Desperately reaching for anything positive

Should have seen Purdue and Wisconsin coming

Could have retired on the winnings taking the opponent on those games

Too me it’s not about rankings. If you are recruiting and coaching good enough to compete in your division then the rankings will take care of themselves.

Are we truly competing? 2015 is too long ago. Bottom dweller Northwestern for DECADES has competed more than we have.

In the end it’s comes down to wins and losses. When you start to think otherwise and rationalize all the time your are starting to put on your cyclone faces as fans. Excuse me while I go vomit.

Its hard to concede winning a conference title against Ohio State or whatever team lucks out and beats Ohio State in the East.

Now it appears that it’s acceptable to not win the division anymore. Well, I don’t see any up rising from the fan base demanding more. There in lies the problem, that and fear.
Fear that we could become worse and fall into the likes Rutgers, Illinois, Indiana and Nebraska.

People mock Nebraska for always going after the newest hottest coach. Good for them as it shows they haven’t given up hope of one day being something better.

It’s when people give up that things become sad. We are according to some suppose to concede that we will never will be better and just accept are fate. Little ole Iowa. midddle of the pack.

Where does this defeatist mindset get you? You never win anything important or really meaningful. It leads to a slow digressive decline. Case in point, apparently winning the division is asking too much anymore.

Sigh……….. watched this in Ames for decades.

You know I’d be ok with keeping Kirk around if he would just give up his insistence of having the control freak mindset and call in a offensive coordinator know for a creative offense. What ever it takes!

All I know is what we are now doing isn’t working. Defense sound. Offense putrid.

A large chunk of where you fall in the polls once you have a loss/losses ...
Depends on when in the season those loss/losses happen.

Can you even see this team scoring over 20 points without the defense scoring? I don't. That's what makes me sad, the pressure just keeps building on the Defense to make no mistakes.

Unlike some people, I'm not afraid of a rebuild. It's happens all the time in sports. Sometimes new blood is just needed. You have to have lows to reach the highs. I'm not for chasing anyone out but if Kirk retires I want a strong hire. Not Brian. Unless your the type of guy that just loves to be just slightly above "average". But Brian hasn't proved he is even above "poor".

Hawks probably will be ranked

#12 Kentucky lost
#17 Pittsburgh lost
#19 SMU lost
#20 Penn State lost
#21 San Diego State lost
#22 Iowa State lost
#25 BYU pulls out a victory 66-49
