Hoke suspended Toussaint

Maybe I'm a little late, but I just read on ESPN that Hoke announced a one game suspension for both Toussaint (starting RB) and backup defensive end Frank Clark. Very surprising considering they are playing Alabama, however, I must say I'm impressed that Hoke made the right choice. I was impressed by his comments as well (per ESPN):

"The decision was not easy, but I feel it is in the best interest of this program and for these kids, and those always will be my priorities," Hoke said. "We have choices every day, and you have to be accountable to this program, your teammates, your family and the University of Michigan."

"These are our sons," Hoke said. "These are real lives, and I think too often many people forget that. It's not always just about football, or a football decision. It's about teaching life lessons, and if this helps these kids or someone else make a right decision later, then we've won. That is ultimately what we are here for, to help them grow and mature to become better sons, fathers, husbands and members of society.

"They are good young men who made poor choices, and we will continue to support them as members of our team and family."

It's tough to root for a program that has as many advantages as Michigan has, but I'm yet to find any reason to dislike Brady Hoke. Seems to me like they got a heck of a head coach. Scares me because they're are landing big recruits left and right, and they are in Iowa's division. More than likely Michigan is returning to their prior form. At least they have a stand up head coach leading the way. I think Michigan State and Dantonio could take some notes!

You KNOW Dantonio wouldn't have.

Unfortunately, this is the first thing I thought of when I read the article. Both coaches say the right things. Only one of them proves that actions speak louder than words, and winning isn't always what's most important. It's refreshing to see another coach take this approach.

Can any piggies or a lawyer tell me what the difference between "Driving while visibly impaired" and "driving while intoxicated" is?

Not really surprised by this. Hoke is old school and a "Michigan Man". The guy has integrity and no way he was going to bring negative press to the program by playing Toussaint.

Lots of respect for him. Remember he's onlly in his 2nd year. He sees the bigger picture. A lot of people have tunnel vision on this 1 big SEC game - he's looking beyond it and setting the stage for the kind of program that he wants.

After the loss at Iowa last year. He was poised. When a lot of UM fans were upset about a no-call on the last play of the game. He didn't even mention it. His eyes are set on a goal that lies beyond the present. Short term things are not concerning him at all.

wise man. Like him.

Apparently Sumlin of A&M has no integrity. They have 2 starters suspended for first game but it was postponed due to hurricane. So instead of suspensions against Florida he imposes them in mid-October against La. Tech. *****

Now when they get slaughtered they can use that as an excuse too. Too bad for Mayweather and his 3 million dollar bet...
